As the forum grows quicker than an American stuck in a KFC warehouse I am re posting a thread I placed last year.

GM towers get the cheque book out.

As a proud member of the FORUM CLUB I think we need members 'BAG TAGS'.

These would be proudly placed on our bags alongside our club tags.

I would also like to see coloursed stickers for lenghth of service rather than quantityof posts so your 1st year would be green, then blue, so on and so on.

It should be a good keepsake for the forum people to use.

What do you think.

It was a good idea at the time...and I think it still is Andy.

I don't know if there's any great need to differenciate between those who are new and those who have been on for a while, though. Wouldn't a nice "one tag suits all" one be good enough to spot fellow forumers.

Good free advertising for GM and they could always charge a couple of quid for a tag if needs be.

Don't like the coloured stickers bit I prefer to see how many post I have etc. But apart from that its a really good idea. :D

Madanra I like the idea of forum members having a bag tag so we can easily spot each other on the courses as we play our way around the country & maybe something similar to wear when we are at live golf events....

Not really bothered about anything to do with length of service on the forum or posts though.

Are you colour coded at your golf club then?

Great Idea on the bag tags front.

Would wear mine with pride next too the club one.

I like the idea of 'something GM' to wear out and about, again great advertising.

Quite like the idea, but would G M be willing to bear the cost of manufacture and distribution.

As regards distribution, perhaps we could send off
s/a envelopes.

Sid your back. Where ya been.

As always, full of wisdom. I wouldnt have a problem with contributing.

I love the idea, on both fronts; tags and clothing or hat or something for events. I'd be willing to pay something towards a branded hat, visor or shirt or something.

Not sure about a S/A envelope, purely based on the fact that I've not heard the term used for about 20 years since I tried for a blue peter badge!!!

A tag or a nice badge would be a good idea, something unique that would be noticed easily by all. I must admit that Im not one for looking at a persons tags or labels unless I play with them or am with them for a while, but I would notice a small lapel badge or collar badge instantly.

Nah - wont work. I have a 'logo'd' camera strap from the most used camera forum in the world and many thousands of the strap have been sold. Never met another strapper!

Did MikeH not mention something about bag tags in a recent post bout forum changes etc?

It would certainly be a good bit of advertising for GM.

Not going to work. You will never see anyone with one. There are 700 members of my club, and I am sure I am the only one on here. If you turn up to my club (say as part of a society), the chances of you seeing me, with my bag, and recognising the tag are remote. If there are about 2000 registered users on here, probably only 500 are active (I bet it is less), you are looking for one of those 500, out of the UK's golfing population.

The one thing it would do, is promote the forum, but to an extent, if anyone reads the magazine, they must know it exists already. If any one is interested in joining a golf forum, there are several already on the web, some better than others, but we are not hard to find.

I can't see the point.

I think the tag idea might not be a winner but a small badge would, I have always shown interest in small tie pin badges, lapel or collar badges, I think they are more sophisticated or appealing than a tag or lable.Yes it would work more as a promo for GM but if somethings worth promoting its worth at least having a descrete badge of support, if you so choose. Who doesnt have a football badge/shirt/book etc its all about support of something you think worth it, that only rewards you with its actions or provisions.

I like it not least from the point of giving something back to forummers. I don't think you need to go down the coloured sticker route but I don't think everyone ever registered deserves one either. I think it needs a little thought and needs to encourage new members to actually get involved and reward regular posters. I would suggest a reward for x number of posts but then you'll get people sending silly one line comments just to ge the count up and someone will need to monitor it which is more work for GM.

I like the idea of a GM forum logo shirt but maybe that is going to prove to expensive. Hopefully the GM guys are already onto it.
