I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

Maybe I need to play less......
Just the 4th time out this year first thing this morning....
Course is Carry only and very soft.
Played the front 9 plus 10 and 11 ...the Plantar is still playing up and I didn't want to push it..
And it would seem I can still plaything dumb game...
1 bogey, 2 birdies and 8 pars makes 1 under for the 11 holes........
Boom💥

Course closed so three of us went to play at 'Tricky Ricky' (Rickmansworth). A hilly par 65 with some tough par 3s. It was very damp and very muddy but just about playable. Weather was unpleasant at times but we also had stretches where the rain eased off, and it didn't feel particularly cold with my rain jacket on.

I played pretty decent on the front nine - oddly I was parring shot holes but bogeying non shot holes - one double/blob but had 17 points at halfway which was pretty decent.

Struggled a little bit on the back nine, was getting a bit tired of marching up down hills of wet mud and struggling to rotate properly in the extra layers, so a few tired slicey swings. No further blobs actually, but two doubles and a few other 1-point bogeys meant only 14 points added to the score for 31 total. I did shoot 79 though, which is the first time I've broken 80 on that course since I find it very difficult despite the shorter length. So pretty pleased overall. Greens were drenched as well, so it was hard to get anything to the hole all day.

Didn't win the day though, my mate who's now two shots higher than me is having a resurgence of form and shot a 74! Git.

Course closed again.

What’s also annoying is that my driver side window on my car had stopped going down, I’ve got the parts to fix it but it won’t stop raining long enough to give me the time to fix it.

Checked the Met Office app and from 2pm this afternoon until 6pm on Friday there is never less than a 50% chance of rain for any of the time slots it gives. Another wet week ahead.

Strange round today. Thinned so many shots today yet still ended up 5 over gross. Had to hit a lot of 3wood shots off the fairways which was really good.
Putted better than usual which always helps.

Course still closed so another couple of hours on the range. Again, mainly working on my 54° wedge between 50 and 100 yards. Flushing it, but I’m itching to get out on a golf course as it’s been 5 weeks now without a game.

Don’t know whether to post this here, or if Golf Random Irritations would be more appropriate.

Last round of our Winter Pairs this morning, and my partner and I played really, really well. Dovetailed perfectly, and left absolutely nothing out there. I had doubts that our 44 points would win, but none whatsoever that it would be in the money.

Wrong. We were SEVEN points adrift of the winners, and FIVE adrift of the pairs who finished 2nd and 3rd, who will be separated on counttback. Our 44 points was good enough for 6th place.

I’m really not sure where we could have found any more points.

Most courses round our way are closed, thankfully Huddersfield is open so I went up with the youth and had a walk round the first 11 holes filming him for his GCSE Physical Education assessment. Minimum requirement is 4 holes up to a maximum of 9, so with the first being the only hole on the front of the course on a winter green we picked up the filming on the 2nd. 7 pars on the bounce, then a bogey down the long par 4 10th after a pulled tee shot, with an aggressive birdie on the 10th to play the 9 holes for his video at level par.

I then challenged him to make a slam dunk on the 11th just for a laugh - he hit a 7 iron way long (let's blame the unfamiliarity of his new irons and a deceptive tailwind) ;-) , so he grabbed the 8 and did this with his 1st attempt with the club.

Played 9 holes today at my home course for the first time there since October - and I’ve only played golf once since then (at Thurlestone over Christmas)

Ridiculous. I played some of the best golf I’ve ever played there - probably in Top 10 of all my rounds there (been playing for 6 years, so that’s plenty of rounds)

When I played loads and paid loads for lessons and took it very seriously I didn’t improve all that much….Yet don’t play for ages? And it wasn’t any different to when I was playing 3 or 4 times a week, week-in, week-out 🤪

Utterly stupid game

If I had a quid for every time I said, "chill and get out of your own way" I'd be buying a new helicopter!🤣

I played - and I played 18 holes. The great news we found was that the flood prevention measures we've put in place over the last three years have worked - certainly so far. And if they have worked 'so far' we see little reason they won't continue to work.

Despite all the rain and the neighboring farmer pumping water from his land that would previously have flooded and cut off four holes - these holes are open and dry - with water coursing through underground piping; ditches and swales into and out of holding ponds and then out off the course.

It was lovely to be out - the weather was very kind - and I played quite well. (y)

Got out for another 11 holes first thing...
Chatting to a Greenkeeper, he showed me the rainfall figures for yesterday...
His App has all the local(20 mile) courses - I guess they use the same App and are linked....
Most had 2mm of rain, the closest, 4 miles away, had 4 and we had.....8.
No wonder we're slowly submerging....still got 1 hole closed, still got 2 temps and it's still carry only
Played OK, the game seems to be around still.
Just about played a week's worth of golf this year....rain due any minute...carry only again tomorrow ...
