I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

Royal Dornoch Championship today with a member and straight into my top 5 courses.
Immaculate condition , greens like lightening and a 3-4 club wind off the sea added to the experience.
Another win for me 3 and 2

Wednesday Cup competition at Lilley Brook. Stableford so thought I'd have no chance being single figures and also am just coming out of a golf "slump"

40 pts good enough for third on countback and that was with a blob on the 6th (OOB - grrrr), taking two to get out of the bunker on 17 as well - what could have been!

Chuffed though having played so dog for the last few months, and I made a 2. (and entered the two's lol)

Gross 74, CR = 2.1 and a cut back down to 5.0!

So...yesterday was a bit of a disaster really.....no swing, no feel, no part of the game working at all.
With few shots it makes life more than a tad tricky....
But, the positives....only 22 points but I scored on 16 holes. 10 x 1 point holes mostly caused by a freezing cold putter.
On to today......an early solo 13 hole loop.
11 pars, 1 bogey, 1 birdie.....
Stupid bloody game......

I played an away day at Orchardleigh, Frome, Somerset on Tuesday.
I had a horrendous start with 2 brand new Prov1s in the pond in the first 4 holes with just 6 points for 6 holes. Finally got it going on the 7th hole with 26 points for the holes thereafter including to very good birdies just missing for the eagle on one hole

Superb value for money (based upon our area) at just £25 a round and £20 for a buggy.

We shall be going back next year and I might persuade another group I play in to go there.

Brora today and if yesterday was windy today it was positively gale force 😱
First 9 down wind and hitting 5 hybrid 260 ,turned level par .
5 Hybrid now going 130 yards 😅
Greens very hard to hold even into the wind and in the interests of marital harmony conceded a 15 footer on the last for a half 😉😀
Finished 8 over

Pals and I played Springwater Golf Club in Calverton, Nottingham today.
It was my first visit. What a delightful golf course and club. If I was still local I would join it in a heartbeat. Straight in at number 1 for my favourite courses, displacing Teignmouth GC in Devon. Not a single boring filler hole on the course.
Highly recommend a visit.

Yesterday was seniors exchange day to Kenilworth.
My first time there and I thought this was an excellent venue for this type of event.
There were 27 of us so we went out in 9 threeballs. Best 2 from 3 and all to count on par 3s.
4 shots for me and for my teammates 21 and 30.
I was on the card 17 times and contributed exactly half our points total. I made 2 net birdies and 2 net pars on my shot-holes and 2 gross birdies elsewhere.
There were 4 holes where both my teammates failed to score.
We got rained on a fair bit and I'm 95% certain we came last, but I did not bother to verify.

The meal after was very good. Just as well.

I think it was a fun day.
I'm not 95% certain about this.

Got out today, played 13 holes before the rain came.. all okay bit of poor putting but who cares.
Lost 2 knackered balls, was looking at one with all kinds of scrapes on and was thinking I should change that, and then lost it in a hedge because I didn’t give the wind much consideration.
The Bronty Chipmaster 2 is really making a very strong case for permanent inclusion.
I know chippers are so unfashionable but they work very well off mud - which seems to be the new cutting depth around the greens!

A learning round today on why it’s much better to keep calm and not try to chase “lost” shots. Bogied the first from 70 yards in the fairway and was seething. Tried a hero shot on 4 and ended up with a bogey on a hole that is easiest on the course. Double 6 with again trying a hero shot rather than accepting my fate after a really unlucky lie. After another stupid bogey on 7 I was +6 and if it wasn’t at the furthest part from the clubhouse I might have walked in.

Instead I calmed down, stopped trying stupid shots and shot -1 from there to finish +5. Also got a 2 which should be good for 10 mars bars at least.

Absolute mixed bag today all the recent changes and good work didn’t feel like it was there today. Bad habits crept in and had to be fought against, yet somehow got it round in just 2 over ! Short game was the savour today.

BUT!!! Today was the first time Mrs M played a round of golf! Been going to the range regularly for about 4 weeks so today was breaking her golfing virginity.

Slow start due to nerves and worrying about what other people would think of her, still coming to terms with chipping, putting and short game in general being more of a game within a game so to speak. But she soon settled and nerves went then she hit some absolute cracking shots, highlight being a bogey 5 on the S.I 1 hole. But her first ever round and first ever score was 96!!!

She thought that wasn’t very good until I pointed out how some many people spend years trying to break 100! She perked up and looked back at the good holes but most importantly she said she had fun is full of smiles and has been looking for other courses to play together.

She’s gone for a nap and I’ve been left cleaning her clubs 🤣

Played at Thorney Park with the old Sunday footy gang. Played the first 15 holes superbly well, no doubles, 30 points on the board. Then completely forgot how to play and decided to hit heely slices for the last three - finished double (sliced 7 iron approach into trees), blob (par 3 lost ball sliced off the tee), double (sliced 5 wood tee shot out of bounds). Absolutely ridiculous. Finished up on 32 points and 2nd place on the day to a 45er who managed 35.

Why is this game so bloody annoying?

Tee off this morning 8:10am and it was cold with wet fairways.
Came 49th out of 104 in today's medal with a score well outside my best 8.
Played with the winner 84 - 19 = 65

Made two 2s.

That is ten 2s in the last 16 comps.
Just as well. Can't seem to win much else.

Going up 0.2 to 4.3 I believe.
That just crosses the border for PH from 5 to 6.

Social golf today and it was very social
Two mates and my wife to make the 4 ball
Pretty windy up to 3 clubs at times but i can go to work tomorrow happy with my game
Had to wait until 18 for birdie but I'll take 37 points
Very good puting day but somehow still needed 33 putts

We need the rain, but golf is taking a serious hit. Going to take my name off for today in a little bit......20+mph wind all day with 95+% chance of rain all day. Just when I was playing a little better.....
