I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

Couple of rounds at the weekend. Went down to Devon/Cornwall for a little break

Bude on Saturday - First time playing here and it was such a lovely track, We got there early and I asked the pro if we could go out earlier than our tee time. They had no issue with that, There was an extra £40 on green fee to pay, When I said can I pay that with card the pro was happy to say no don't worry just enjoy the round. It was the day after the PGA SW Pro Am there so the pins were in some dodgy spots. Overall played well considering I didn't really know what I was going half the time. Snapped some photo's

Sunday played RND as competition I should have been playing was cancelled due to the weather. The club kindly allowed the other half and I to go out and play free of charge. Went out just before 9. Got soaked on the last few holes but was great. Again took some pictures and can be seen below. Had to let some guys play through, I didn't get an option with that!

I went off to Accrington this morning to play in the final of the county Interclub competition, I was 2nd out, after 6 holes we were told the competition had been abandoned, I wasn't surprised, the rain was horizontal an it was horrendous playing in it.
for the 6 holes played I hit the ball well but 3 putted every green.

Hope both me and the weather are better in 3 weeks when we will try again.

after my soaking yesterday I drove down to my friend's in Hertfordshire and today we played in a 4BBB at Burnham Beeches, a lovely course that I have played once before.
I mostly hit the ball decently and set up quite a number of birdie and par chances, however my putting was possibly the worst ever, I had about 10 3 putts, including 2 four putts, and missed 4 or 5 putts from inside 2 feet. An absolute shocker.
We are playing Batchworth Park tomorrow hopefully I will see a marked improvement.

Played the Palmerston course at Brocket Hall today and came 2nd (28 entrants).

Only two of us hit the green on the NTP hole, but the other player was closer and I 'beat the pro'. Never done that, but he tee'd off on a par 3 and the fourball tried to get inside his ball. Two of us did.

Stayed the night before, as it's 4 hours away, for £160. A bit old fashioned but nice - scary place though with all the ghost stories, so not the best nights sleep 😁

Managed to get a nine hole practice in earlier. Weather was nice although pretty windy. Doubled 11 & 12 (playing back nine), although no warm-up so you take that, followed it with a lovely birdie on 13 - dead straight drive followed by a 50° to ten feet. Cracking up and down par on 16th too, very nearly chipped in for birdie there - after another dead straight drive. Ended up with 17 points for my nine holes, and gave me some confidence that the Triad balls are good at holding pretty straight in the wind too. 🙏🏻

I played yesterday and am beginning to realise my health is now a big factor in my golf.

Another game of fading towards the end due to fatigue

7 shots dropped in the last 4 holes. Disappointed that I was looking to have my first round of scoring in stableford on every hole for a long time until the 16th hole.

Still forgetting to adjust distances for the drop in temperatures.

Past three days played three courses up in the Wirral. Caldy, Heswall and Wallasey. Rain and wind on day one, just stong wind on the last two. The first two were nice courses, both with some parkland style holes and some more exposed by the Dee Estury. Wallasey was another level though, pure links and clearly much work has gone into making the place feel premium. Some very challenging holes especially into the wind. On one I hit driver, 4-hybrid, 3-wood, all well, and was still 50 yards short of the green!

Hacked it round in 79 this evening in 30mph winds. Driving was all over the place, I chunked 3 approach shots and kept pulling and pushing putts.

Happy with the score considering how I hit it.

Today I played at Batchworth Park, near Rickmansworth, the rain stayed away and we had a very enjoyable round, The course has a nice variety of holes and some tricky greens, The course condition was a mixed, but we were playing preferred lies and the greens were in good condition, I played pretty well and my putting was decent and I won a nearest the pin, although I think I might have been the only one to hit the green as I was quite away off the pin, it was quite a long par 3, I had to use my driver.

Were the holes the normal size?

If you know, you know 🤭

Sorry Fragger, I am not in the know.

Back home at Ellesmere today, oh my the greens were so slow, 2 weeks after greens renovation week and I just could not get putts near the hole on the front nine, downhill putts that normally runaway were just not reaching the target, also was very inconsistent myself and had a shocking 51 for the front nine, at least I improved on the back nine and despite another couple of 3 putts took a respectable 42 shots.

Seniors stableford comp today. Only 24 showed up - a few wimped out because of the rain, maybe.
First few holes in the rain, then it stopped.
Could not judge the pace of the greens due to varying wetness. 34 putts total and some poor shots, but avoided a zero.
Started very poorly, achieved a level of mediocrity, then finished last 5 holes fairly well. The stableford points went

1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 2 for the front nine

2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 2, 2, 4, 1 for the back nine

Now hear this - comp was won with 36 points and two more tied on 35 points.

13th place out of 24 for me and I fear that tomorrow I will see 4.3 go to 4.6 which is where I started the year.
My trouble being that all the good scores I made in June are dropping off and I'm not getting anywhere near those balmy days when I got it down to 3.9

Society day at my club today....and, for the 2nd 9, it was blowin'......
Starting on 10 I rattled off 3 pars and a birdie followed by 2 bogeys and 3 more pars to turn with 21 points...nice
After watching the parachutists at Chequers 4 more pars were added before dropping 4 shots over the last 5 holes..
Still, 39 points was enough to take the win with Fragger some 6 points behind in 2nd.
Also picked up Nearest the Pin, some cash on the Sweep and a quid for the birdie to end up making a 13 quid profit...even nicer.. 😋
Sadly no card in as we play close gimmees.
But there's always tomorrow

Open at Hartlepool today, a new course to me. It's a links course, pretty flat. It was blowing a gale, we got battered. Nowhere to hide.

Very enjoyable and at only £15, ridiculous value.

Played pretty well, allowing for the odd exception where the wind just knocked me off my stride. The most annoying thing was choking two putts near the end. Both simple, both for 3 points. Wouldn't have made a jot of difference overall so no issue on that front. I'm just annoyed with myself.

A good day though and I suspect we will go back again next year.

A few of our lads were there, you may have seen some familiar faces.

I was at Tynemouth, Texas Scramble. We played well, 55.8, finished 3rd for the second year running. Course was in great nick, greens were very good. An enjoyable day.

A mate text (yes it it text), yesterday morning so ask if I fancied a knock in and extra stableford in the afternoon. I've not played for over a week, but weather forecast was good and he's a mine of info so I agreed. We were both dreadful, him off 7 as well. Still I had a good listen to him as we walked round. Afterwards we watched our superstar. off +3, tee off on the 10th. Then his playing partner off 2. The difference was immense. +3 smooth as silk, perfect finishing position. -2 player not as good and poor finishing position and off balance.
Me? oh finished next to last with 24 points. Cider was nice.
