Funny old day today. Started off with snow, turned to rain, then lovely sunny spells interspersed with heavy rain showers, and a pretty strong wind. Driving was a bit off compared with normal, but played decent enough and won our matchplay game 4&2.

Beautiful day at St Andrews links today, if a tad breezy at 30mph. Played the Jubilee, tough into the breeze on the way out, much better on the way back in. Won the match so bonus.

The golf for me would be secondary to 3 hours with the lads. One of the guys in our fuddle turned up yesterday. He could t play as he had an op on his hand two weeks ago. He found 60odd balls on the course and was buzzing. Said he would go mental sat at home. I suppose if you have a plan B that’s fine.

yes getting back into cycling (Gravel riding) and with my new job ( well had it almost 2 years now) i do a fair bit of shooting so away a couple of times a week doing deer management. i dont have the time to play more than once a week max. no time to practice. i do have the option to go to 3 days an a few weeks, but really enjoy what i do. its a case golf might just not be a priority for me the next few year. until i decide to retire again

37 points BUT 3 missed putts from about a foot put a real dampener on it. First one was just carelessness, the other two, I took my time with them and have no idea how I managed to miss them. Very frustrating.

Other than that, a good solid round in testing conditions - heavy rain overnight meant the course was pretty wet, and the weather was all over the place during the round itself, cold and quite a few squally showers.

Very cold and windy made me resemble the Michelin Man.
Swung easy and clubbed up all over the place.
Started with a couple of ugly doubles but finished on 35pts.
Last week I shot 103, today I shot 87.
The difference?
Playing with a clear mind having overcome a potential financial nightmare.
When the dark clouds of anxiety are lifted I can actually play acceptable golf!

Thankfully, that 'something' has now gone and I can get on with the rest of my life.

Played in the first works society event of the year at Satford (near Bath). Greens were rapid compared to my course and much more contoured - one even had 4 tiers! Steady first 9 but a blob on 9 (trying to be too cute with a chip) meant 15 points. 2 pints per hole on back 9 until a run of birdie , par, par lead to 21 points on back 9. Thought would be outside prizes but ended up winning by 3 points.
Weather was sunny, then cold and even a bit of hail - madness.

Played The Castle course yesterday in a gentle breeze and warm sunshine. The least number of layers for a few months. Course in fantastic condition as it’s only been open two weeks, greens were superb for the time of year.

They still have the March offer on, £85 which includes £25 towards food, a pretty good bargain at the moment

Got out this morning did the medal and role up. Everything was okay putting was a little hit and miss. Got tired again on the last 3 holes but result was okay. Wilson triad ball is really good. Straight and long off the tee.. iron distances are in line with normal. Spin levels seem okay, maybe a little low for summer but generally a good ball. Durability is okay as well, so I will get another 18holes out of it.
