I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

Looking at the long range forecast, I don’t think we’ll see consistently dry courses until mid May round our neck of the woods..

I wouldnt worry too much tbh

They can't even get tomorrow's spot on don't worry about long range

I've got 4 apps for weather 2 say rain tomorrow 2 say dry

This morning they were the other way round aswell

They haven't got a clue

BBC seems to be the most pessimistic, they’ll show a rain cloud to suggest it’s going to rain on a certain day, then when you look at that particular day - there’s a 20% chance of 0.1mm of rain at 5am….

Captain's drive in yesterday, 2 man Texas Scramble event. 30mph winds and non-stop rain made it quite a challenging day, lost all feeling in my hands after about 6 holes. Too windy to put a brolly up and it turns out my Ping and Under Armour waterproofs aren't meant for taking a soaking for 4 hours as I was soaked right through, even my boxer shorts and thermal underlayer were both wet. Felt like I had a puddle in both shoes when walking.

We ended up shooting level par but with only 1 shot we ended up 4 shots behind the winners.

Was that cold when I got home that I didn't even take the golf gear out the car, went straight in and stood under a hot shower for 20 minutes then got on the couch with a huge mug of coffee and a blanket and didn't move from that spot for 2 hours.

First Seniors Comp of the year,
unfortunately still on our Winter Course.
Played on Sunday same course, HI 9.5, PH 10, today HI 9.5, PH 7 😂😂😂

Good day, 35 points, included an Eagle on our Par 5 7th, PW from 118yds😬

And a chip in for Par on the Par 3 17th, missed the green right with my tee shot, shanked my 2nd further away and then chipped in from 15yds 😂

A lot of grumbling back in the clubhouse about losing shots overnight.

First game for exactly 2 weeks and I decided to take my recently acquired Ping Eye2 irons out for the first time.
It was interesting to compare them with the Ping i10 irons that I have been using since 2008.

Having not played for two weeks, I was all over the shop for the first five holes. Five over par, but that did include one par-3.
Level par for the remaining 13 holes, including 3 birdies and 3 bogeys. All the birdies were on the back nine.

It was interesting to play with 9 irons instead of my usual 10 clubs to get the job done. This meant I could take driver, 3 wood, 16° and 20° hybrids.
Really enjoyed playing with these clubs.
Most satisfying shot was 3rd shot to the par-5 17th hole. Full shot with the 45° Gap 9-Wedge. Finished 5ft away for my 3rd birdie.
Same club again on the 18th to make a par-4.

Two chaps I played with took an interest in the clubs.
Course was soggier and boggier than two weeks ago. Never seen it as bad as this in April before.

Played with another couple of vintage club enthusiasts today.
They being much better players than me and my having a dodgy hip I was already seriously outgunned, I compounded that disparity by choosing not the most forgiving irons to play.

Approx 1940s Frank Jowle 2 to 8 irons, a Nicoll Micro-Slot pitcher (I completely understand why this design didn't catch on) and a 1930s 10 iron.

I was rubbish and in trying not to overload my hip I've now added a sore knee to the equation, first qualifier of the year on Friday.....

The tale I like to believe is that the London centric BBC of old decided to show rain for the day even if just an hour of rain somewhere - so you knew whether to pick up a brolly with your briefcase 😁
Of course now in Salford, predicting rain each day may not be far off 🤣

What's the craic with the pitcher? Never seen one or those before. Funky club.
Nice that you have the marketing stuff for that club too. Nice touch.

Just a game with my mates dad today. Expected more people to be about but most must be back to work.
Our course returns to its normal routing after the winter layout and shortening has finished.
First day off the mats too.
So good to be back hitting off the proper first tee.
Played really well too. Hit the driver like a dream which hasn't been the case for some time.
Really worked on exiting left thorough the ball and hit lovely fades off all but one tee.
Only missed 2 fairways all day which is a real rarity. Such stress free golf.
3 birdies, 2 on par 3s which is mighty pleasing.
34 points without breaking sweat or taking things too serious has left me in great mood.
All we need now is the course to dry out and actually get some roll. Greens are a few weeks from being classed as good.

Was not a single drop of rain in the end

Course was in excellent condition

Signed for My best differencial aswell

Think the drier conditions helped a bit

That and not losing a ball

Wife has taken the boy to London so I went out this evening got 11 holes done.. 11th was a mess so I had a few chips and came home for a hot bath.
Played well up until then with a strong wind into for most of the long holes.
I was dropping in 2nd shots to 6ft but didn’t make a putt and was 3 over after 10holes.
I am not so bothered about the putting as the weather has been poor for green maintenance.
What I am bothered about is iron play and chipping. Driving seemed okay I was getting a little too far away on occasion but no real issues. Not much run out either but just going to keep plugging away

Was hoping today's senior's Stableford would be my first qualifier of the year, but recent heavy rain meant it was changed to non-qualifying.

After blobbing the 3rd and 4th I was relieved it was NQ.
A dry today but very windy, my shot of the day came on the 6th playing straight into the wind. We were off the ladies tees so only 127 yards, I hit a 4 iron 12 feet past the flag and holed the putt for birdie. :)

Only three twos today so should pick up a few pounds.

Just been out and played 10 with the boy - course really isn't fit, but I think they've opened it for those members willing to give it go and get some golf in.

Was all about the youth testing his Ai Smoke out, and I've taken his old Cobra F8 off his hands and upgraded from my F6 - I've kept the old shaft to use in the F8. I hit one bad drive on the 2nd but after that - I pretty much nailed everything. Absolutely nuked one up the tenth - and it was still a yard or two short of where Jamie had hit the Callaway to. Looks like the 20 to 30 yard gains we saw in his fitting will transpire to the course.

We're back to normal..ish...
Carry only yesterday and it was wet.....
Strong winds and mild temps and we're back to trolleys....
P,layed ok in the strong winds..gusting 40mph allegedly....
A couple more days like this and they'll be putting the sprinklers on.....

Monthly stableford at ours, albeit a non qualifier for reasons which are a bit of a mystery. Blowing an absolute gale, so well pleased with 33 points.
