I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

Golf sucks.

Turned up for a round against my usual 12 index mate - he said he was very hungover and I'd be winning the match easily today, so you can guess how that went. With his low-energy 80% effort drives he hardly missed a fairway. Meanwhile with two blobs and no pars in the first six holes I found myself four down already. Next hole, the 16th (back nine first today) I had a glorious up-and-down for par hitting 7 iron to two feet, he had a jammy birdie when a huge right kick took him away from the bunker and also to two feet from the pin - shot hole so a half but still annoying. I had a nice par on 18 as well but another half so 14 points and still four down at half way.

I parred the 1st but completely lost the plot with doubles on the 2nd and 3rd, so now I'm six down and the game is pretty much over. Confirmed by a half on the 4th. Then with absolutely nothing to play for a had a three-par finish on 7th, 8th and 9th - that's the par 4 S.I.2 and back to back par 5s - to stat-pad my way to a 32 point score.

Conditions were difficult. Strong winds and baked fairways saw the ball running in all directions, and the greens were absolutely rapid. My driving was actually decent now that I think back, only had the one awful slice early on, but I'm still struggling a lot with chipping off the horrible dry patchy lies around the greens. And I had three absolute nightmares with bunkers.

Losing my best round so handicap continues to go through the roof, tomorrow I believe I'll be at 16.8 which is the highest I've been in about six years. Definitely not been that high since the Congu days. Meh.

Back playing after another 9 month lay off. Been easing back with range visits and finally did a full session on Wednesday. Hit 100 balls and struck it very well with all the data looking impressive. Swing speed, ball speed, launch angles all bang on where I would expect to be. No pain either so I will be back on the course properly this week

We had greens renovation week little over a week ago add in heavy rain Friday night and no new holes cut due to it being a bank holiday on Friday all added up to a poor round for putting and chip and run shots. Only real highlight was a full wedge hole out one hole which negated the greens problem, just wish I had hit the second shot as well as I had hit the third.
Best score in our group was 37 points and I can in 4th with 33.

Wasn’t expecting much today as I’ve been putting down laminate flooring for the last 2 days so was pretty stiff crawling out of bed. Throw in a pounding headache and blocked nose and I thought about cancelling until I saw one of my playing partners had beat me to it in the WhatsApp group. Same symptoms, so might be something going round.

Anyway, as for the golf I played really well. Was disappointed with a 3 putt bogey on 18 for a +5 round but I did have a 2 on 12 which should keep me going in Twix’s from the pro shop until June.

2 from 4 team event on Saturday for a club board competition. Me and my team mates played out of our skins to win comfortably with a massive 96 points.

I had 3 birdies, including a 2 and a birdie on a shot hole where a pp also had a birdie, bagging us 8 points. Shots received were 9, 11, 13 and 18, off the back tees. Absolutely chuffed - my first ever board comp win :).

Hoping i can maintain that form for at least a few weeks!!

Bogey competitions are painful. No reward for a birdie and harshly punished for a bogey. Turned +1 both days and lost the back 9 to finish -3 and -2 to finish -5 in total. Seems to be a respectable score listening to a few stories. Apparently +10 is winning for two rounds. On the plus side I'm playing the first supper club of the season on Wednesday

Entered the bank holiday Stableford, one round to be played on Sat, Sun or Mon.

Drizzly rain for most of the round so perhaps didn't choose the best day, but could have had a decent score if my putter hadn't misbehaved (GT-400 for those interested). Four three-putts, six if you include putts from off the green. 😦

35 points, 38 leading. Should get a 0.1 cut though and now have 5 non-counting rounds to come off.

Texas scramble

We had a solid gross of 60 a net 59 😂😂😂😂

Currently near the bottom leaving

Seems there is a few reams with 15 plus shots out there

Joke HC allowances

There is little point any very low HCs playing in them

Sooner we bin them off the better

Or, don’t play in them and leave them for those that do enjoy playing in them.

Or use a HC allowance that makes it fairer for all

We enjoy scrambles , it’s a very fun format but enjoyment is a little sucked out of it

In all the scrambles we have had since the change you need at least to have 8 shots which is near impossible to get if you have just one person with a CH of 1 in or lower

People are stopping playing them

I just play them for the fun. Winning isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

Had a day off today but played our 2nd Medal of the year yesterday with Jamie.
Neither of us scoring well, greens are unpredictable after the maintenance programme - hopefully some rain and a cut this week flatten them out.

We're both having one of those frustrating phases where the bounces all seem to be bad, putts won't drop, and the scores quickly run away.

9 holes for me first few in a while. All okay just a bit wayward here and there but okay. Nice to get out though, I was lucky with the weather and played in sunshine. Greens were recovering from maintenance week.

Results are in

For us to have challenged we needed to score 19 under gross 😂😂
