Better ball pairs comp yesterday. Never felt so ill on a course. Fevers, light headed, aching. Had it been singles I'd have walked off. Not sure how I got round. Bloods weren't to low when I checked after so not sure it was a hypo incident and maybe got a bug. Went home, struggled to watch the might Fulham and went to bed until this morning. Feeling marginally better. We were pretty respectable given all of that and mid-table

Got out for 18 holes yesterday in stableford competition. Salvaged a 32pts but my putting over the front nine cost me around 5 pts and it woke up from hole 12.. but the greens had dried out from the watering. They are leaving them a bit long due to the weather conditions (no rain for 2 weeks) . I would rather they take care of them now than damage them for the season.
I also noticed a distinct difference in ball distance I started with the driver going 220yards and then upto my 250 average .. so temperature moved from 3 to 12 degrees. Of cause run increased but not significantly. I can get away with shorter distances initially.. but it was an interesting observation ( well I thought so) . Anyway need to improve .. but I also confirmed the TRIAD if given the height could stop quite nicely.

four of us went to play Blackley golf course today ahead of a match we have there, there were 2 guys who had teed off a little while in front of us, we caught them up on the 3rd hole and had to wait behind them until the 13th, where they could really not let us through we practically walked along side them to reach our tee while they were ambling down the fairway. Despite the hold ups we got round in 3 and a half hours and we were not rushing, why do rounds have to take over four hours sometimes, there really is no need.

Interestingly I thought the course was well behind ours, with very slow greens, and still off mats on the par 3 tees, our course seems to have a bad reputation buit it is so much better than many around the area.

Lost Winter KO semi board comp pm. Pretty fed up at the time as going for my third win of the comp. On reflection the truth is I actually played well…but a couple of poor shots cost me; I was unlucky a few times and I didn’t have much in the way of good luck, plus of course my opponent played solid - albeit with a few lucky breaks. But that’s matchplay golf. Next time out it it might equally be with me in his shoes.

Had no work to do this afternoon so snuck out for a quick nine holes at 4 - played the back nine as there was not a soul out there, got round in one hour five mins.

Started with three bogeys, then four pars in a row - unfortunately blotted the card with a double on our 17th (found a bunker with my approach from a ball-below-feet lie - ironically I dropped a second ball and stiffed it to four feet), but finished by sinking a six footer for par on the 18th. Five over and 20 points. Why is golf so much easier when you fly round on your own with no warm up whatsoever??

I'm absolutely loving the grip change I've made for driving - all I did was make my right hand about 1 or 2mm stronger - so the right thumb sits directly on top of the grip pointing straight down it. I hit every single fairway. Four out of four with driver and the last two with 3 wood as well. Unbelievable. There was not a breath of wind of course, but we won't talk about that. 😄 Genuinely struck driver so well that it filled me with joy. God I hope it continues. Ripped the 3 woods on the last two holes with that grip as well, it just feels like much more of a solid strike, so I guess it stops me opening the face and swiping across it as much.

Well done matey. Glad you have the driver working after all your hard work

Shot 5 over today, lovely 25 degrees and little wind, so no complaints....

Playing off 2 tomorrow at my second club, still very hard for me to be a Sandbagger, but I'm working on it.

Will play the second course this Saturday as there is little chance of playing to my handicap, if you cannot beat the OZ HS you may as well use it to your advantage.

I shot 77 round the Old Course.
Somehow avoided every single bunker and birdied three holes, including the 18t with a small gallery watching.
I know some people say it's a crap golf course, but I'd happily play there once a month for the rest of my life!

Good shooting sir. The atmosphere on the 1st and 18th is definitely unique and to make birdie at the last is a lifelong memory

Cracking day spent with @PaulMdj at Goswick today. Never played there before, what a pleasure. A proper course, a proper links course. In superb condition, firm fairways, fast greens. Very chilly, enough of a breeze to know it was there, not enough to really damage the day.

My pp, as above 😉, had a superb day and I didn't trouble the card, 4bbb, until the 6th or 7th hole. To be fair, it was a cheeky 4 pointer on the SI1, but heck who's counting 💪🥳😄.

Had I played a solo round I suspect my card would have been a bit disappointing but this was pairs so it's easier to forget bad holes 🤭. I didn't think I played too badly overall but being beaten by Goswick is no disgrace. We actually dovetailed pretty well overall and came in with a highly creditable 43 points off the white tees. As mentioned, my pp took most of the credit for this but I chipped in a few times when he was taking a breather.

Very enjoyable day, definitely looking forward to going back there to play in their October open.

Had the pleasure of playing there last October. Absolutely belting track. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Midweek sweep and the 3rd gash round in a row. Drove it well, putted much better but my game from 120 in is a shambles. I just can’t get to grips with the greens just now, we’ve went from 3 weeks ago to stopping on the green with no issues to now barely able to hold anything. Case in point tonight on the 16th, I had 35 yards to the pin, chipped it 15 yards to the front of the green to then watch it release 30 yards and leave me with a 30 foot putt. I thought I nipped the chip beautifully as well. 😂

Next round I’m going to start using my 58 everywhere around the green rather than my 50 to see if that helps as what I’m doing just now ain’t it.

Newport today in lovely weather. Playing reasonably at the mo, but still have the odd awful drive in the locker!😁
Few days at Saunton tomorrow, might play Ilfracombe or Minehead on Sunday on the way back before the rain arrives.

Wowzers, how long is your tomorrow? ;)
