Had a very enjoyable knock with @richart @Bratty and @Dando. Still emotionally damaged from Bratty’s finish but I’ll cope.
What, you mean the 3 hybrid from 196 yards uphill, cross wind, which finished 3 foot from the pin on 18th? That one?
Only shot I hit all day! I made the birdie putt too, before anyone asks!
A brilliant day despite my poor golf. Great company and even better banter!

Played Seaham yesterday, one of my favourites with lovely views of the North Sea from up high. Birdie on 10 and 15, far too many bogeys however and a missed opportunity to break 80 again ending in a slightly disappointing 84. In the last few weeks of bizarre weather, I have had the misfortune of a snapped driver head at South Moor (4th tee) and a putter head falling clean off (1st green) at Crook! Both have been replaced with upgraded models.

Got mildly moist at the beginning of today's round but it dried up after 4 holes...damn breezy though.
1 over after 4 I then, completely out of character, blocked my tee shot into deep jungle never to be seen again....scrambled a double though...
Next tee and it's a shocker of a swing. You have to either hit over or around a set of trees - sadly I did neither.
Ball meets tree and disappears.
Rest of the 9 was OK...
2 pars and a birdie followed by a double on our 13th par 3..
Hooked into long grass, found it and it looked like it needed everything I had to get it out let alone on the green
Of course it came flying out at approximately Mach 3 and cleared the green by 40 yards....
The wind really started to get going and the ride home was hard work..
11 over for 33 points wasn't too bad but should have been better....

yesterday I was at Lancaster for the Lancs ladies Lady Derby trophy qualifier, the main handicap event or the county, the weather was not good and there was a lot of standing water around, with thunderstorms forecast in the afternoon, as this is a qualifier for a knockout to be held in 2 weeks it was imperative that it was played.

I went out nearer the front of the field and was playing reasonable well, the first 3 holes are all par 5s off the reds and I parred them all, holing some nervy putts, so that was a steady start, I did 3 putt from nowhere on the 5 for a double bogey, but I was playing with 2 local ladies and they said after, there was far more slope on the green that it looks, I fell foul of the weather when my tee shot on a par three got stuck in a puddle of water, when it looked like it would run nicely up the green. I had just holed a nice putt for a par on the 8th, when a man came up in a buggy to announce that the competition was being reduced to 9 holes to make sure it got finished, we were not to downhearted about this, in fact I think my playing partners who were not playing as well as me were pretty pleased. my nett score was one over par.

I found out afterwards that I had finished 9th and so qualified for the knockout back at Lancaster in 2 weeks, hopefully the waether will be better that day.

I tried to ask the committee member that has been helpful and on my side so to speak and he said he couldn't say right now as the punishment was not announced to the player. However his membership is due shortly while I have just renewed mine.

There is no further appeal after I appealed the original punishment. They reduced the knockout ban to just the winter to conincide with the 12 week club competition ban. Even that I thought was harsh on me for literally saying two swear words to the chap.
Ridiculous punishment imho. How many club competitions are there throughout the year?

Think when I looked I will miss 10 club competitions. One of those being champs which is in a couple of weeks.

I would hope the other chap would be removed from the club. However as his renewal was due shortly I would presume he would have told them to do one and leave anyway.

Will you renew next year? Not sure I would.

Biblical rain yesterday meant our place was closed. Luckily we had booked to play in a Texas Scramble up at Wooler. The course is on the side of a hill, so was always going to drain well, but it was in really great condition, you wouldn't even know it had rained yesterday (greenkeeper confirmed it had been very heavy for most of the afternoon and evening). Quirky but enjoyable course - no bunkers, but the majority of holes are either steep uphill or steep downhill. Thankfully we had booked buggies.

Golf was decent enough but nowhere near the prizes.

A very enjoyable day out and the sun was out for the whole of our round. Lovely.

I played it a few weeks ago, a charity day event. It's a smashing course that can easily catch you out. You need to know about the slopes off the tee, after your second shots etc. Easy to get out of place badly.

Always interesting though and a friendly place to play.

great day yesterday. 1.50 tee and played 2 mates from the pub. They had no handicap but do play and go away regularly. So circa 28. I gave them 1 shot per hole and they played as a scramble. I lasted until the 17th! 3 birdies in first 11 and despite v poor putting shat an 81 off 12.8 (16 shots) . We then dropped the cars off, headed to the pub and drank....lots! A nice hangoverto wake up for on my birthday

Bloody hell this game is frustrating.!!
Very steady 16 holes today, fairways and greens or close to...couple of decent birdie chances lipped but at "level 2s" on our 17th tee (8th hole) and in control of my ball.
Par 3...found the front right bunker..plugged up to it's backside, right under the front lip.
Gave it all I had and the ball spluttered out and rolled back into my footprint..May as well have been plugged again....double booger
Our 18th (9th)...OK drive, slightly pushed 2nd towards the right hand bunker...rolled through it into the rough behind...
I'd have been better off in the bunker as the pin was at the top of the green....no chance getting close, the choice was play short and hope it had enough to roll onto the green or go long and leave a 30 footer back up the hill..
Chose short and the ball just died on the fringe.
20 feet, downhill, right to left with nothing to stop it bar the flag...miss and it's 20 feet past.
Didn't hole the 2nd 20 footer...double booger......
Poxy game...

You would hope so but the fact they have banned you from club comps for 12 weeks is making me think that they think you were as much to blame as the other guy, or the other guy knows someone on the committee.

We both got the same 12 week ban from comps. However he received knockout bans from winter and summer KO's where I was just the winter.

I think they feel my use of bad language was just as bad as his tirade and everything he said. From what I have been told from the committee is that he tried to make a formal complaint about me. They dismissed that and I asked if he has been removed from the club and he told me that he can't officially say but indicated that he will be leaving the club. His renewal was September so I presume he will just leave or has been told a renewal won't be offered.

So he was the aggressor, he upset the women, you tried to calm him, he physically threatened you and your partner and your committee ban you from comps for 12 weeks mmmmmmmm,

I'd appeal !

Played last night and hit the ball great. Driver wasn't brilliant, hit a low heal cut all night but they all stayed in play and my irons were fantastic for me. Hit 13 greens in regulation (good at our place considering the size of the greens I usually average around 8), 3 others on the fringe, 1 flew into a greenside bunker but hit a rake and bounced out and my only poor approach shot all night was more a function of the lie (thick, clingy semi-rough) that pulled the club face over in my hands. Ended up shooting 76 (+6, 4.0 differential) and was really disappointed with the score as I felt I had a real chance of going lower. Left 3 putts a couple of inches short in the jaws and also had 2 take massive bobbles right before the hole and miss. The course had been shut the day before and the greens were still wet so I don't think they had a chance to cut them as they were ridiculously slow, I'd be shocked if they were rolling at anything over 7 on the stimpmeter.

Probably an unpopular opinion but. From what I have read on here of this it appears there were two people who could have behaved better. It seems to me that MACM85 could have diffused the situation, but chose another option.

I suspect the stories from each player told a different tale so both involved were punished and the main culprit given the harshest punishment.
