Went out last night for 10 while the boy was at scouts….
Went, 4,3,blob,6,4,5,2,4,4 & 5, that would be 4 over counting the blob as a double.
Literally never ever scored so well, not even a thought in my head, just pick a spot and hit it.

Played Roseberry Grange yesterday. Started poorly, just could not get the hang of the unusually slow greens and was an infuriating 9 over after 6. Improved from the 7th onwards to shoot 85. Apart from a duffed chip at the death-defying up hill par 3 14th (possibly an escalator needs to be installed for us bag-carrying fifty-somethings), was reasonably pleased with my back 9, navigating the various ditches well.

What a differnce yesterday to Wednesday🤣
Poor would be an understatement, though I drove it very well. Beautiful day for it none the less. Only real downside was a 4 ball with a country member managed to get out at 8.30, we ate usually no 4 balls before 9am. Waited on every shot, two groups got through them, but no one else. They took close to four and a half, but the worst part was they didn't rake a single bunker and ofter stepped over the rakes to get out 😟
One of them even played off the practice putting green on to the 18th green😡

Monthly medal.

First is a par 5, scabby-ish drive, 6 iron out of the rough and a 22° hybrid to 5ft for a birdie (from 230)
2nd par 3, 8 iron to 6ft and lipped out for birdie, made par
2nd par 4 - 3HL to the dogleg, 50° Wedge to 3ft and rolled in to be -2 gross through 3. Nice.

4th is a 195y par 3 down the hill, thought nice hybrid, pushed right into the cabbage, duffed chip, 3rd shot on the green and 4 putted. 4. Jesus.

Didn't really improve until the 13th where I stringed 5 pars together to come in with a net 78 and a choppy bogey on #18. I'll be dangerous one day..

😱😱

Drove really well, until 17 and 18.

Hit hybrids consistently well, unheard of.

Chipped and putted like a chimp 😭. Worst I can remember. Absolutely no feel whatsoever.

Pulled it around on the back 9 until 17 and 18 when I had a pair of 8's. Unlike in poker, that's not good. Horrible score, just horrible.

On the good side, course is in great condition, weather was lovely and company was excellent. Ah well, an open at Gosforth tomorrow for redemption.

There are no words to describe how bad I was out there this morning.

Millionaires golf at 6am and I made an absolute pigs ear of every hole.

8, yes 8! lost balls off the tee and the ones that stayed in play weren't much better.

Started on the 13th today, and started with a solid par. First six holes played really well, was three over par (13 points) - including a world class up and down for par at the 17th when I thought I'd be lucky to make bogey. Then the wheels came off at the 1st (our 7th) as I hit a stone cold top off the tee with 7 wood out of nowhere and end up making double. Poor on the next couple and doubled the 4th as well after hitting my drive into a bush and losing the ball. Back to playing quite well after that, parred the two par 5s (8th and 9th) and parred the tricky 11th as well.

Ended up shooting 81 for 37 points. My best round for several weeks. Nice to get back on form, even if the course is playing much easier now with the extra roll and a bit of bounce if you fat your wedges. Just irritating that I seem to chuck in a spell of bad holes all in a row, this time it was a run of 4 bad holes, often it's 5 or 6.

Gash, absolute gash. First few hybrid/iron shots were hosel, thin, thin, hosel, chunk, toe. 4 over after 4 then on 5 my drive was in the rough (not long, maybe an inch or two long) and I hit my second up to the side of the green. Get up to the green to notice the ball wasn’t mine, was a Titleist with an grey arrow but it’s a Pro V1 and not an AVX. Just picked up and N/R’ed.

Things didn’t really improve from there, hit it terrible all day. At least it was beautiful weather and the course is looking nice and playing tough. When I looked earlier there were only 10 out of 106 that had played to the course rating, it’s up to 17 now from 127 (12 still not put a score in but they were earlier so must be gash as well) so probably 17 out of 139 playing to course rating.

Going to go back to drawing a line on my ball from now on for easier identification.

36 points today. Finally started to see my game coming together after a tough few weeks. Still annoyed with a couple of good birdie chances that turned into 3 putt 😂😂
Ulverston 36 hole scratch event tomorrow

I steeled myself and checked the leader board after your post. 47 people below me 😃. Strokeplay and NR have saved the humiliation I was expecting of propping up the comp 😆. Saying that, my score was still stinking 😪.

Bring on the next game 👍

Is that par 3 with the pond in play at your place now?

Voyager EMH kindly invited a few of us for an invitational team comp at Scraptoft this afternoon. Unfortunately we didn’t score too well but an enjoyable afternoon in the sun.

Yes, a very enjoyable day but @Bdill93 's replacement (me) seemed to drag the team down!

I was struggling to get off the tee hitting numerous fat shots.
I was pulling my irons and regularly missing left.
And I wasn't comfortable with my putter (Gradidge Bobby Locke) which was a lot flatter than I like.

Thanks again @Voyager EMH , and for the Greenfinder irons, which are still in the boot, might be a day or two before I can smuggle them inside!

Weather was good, course was good, company was great - golf was garbage.

@GG26 got us off to a great start with three 3-pointers in the first 4 holes and the AmAm best 2 from 4 was looking good after 5-holes.
Things just kept sliding away after that.
Try again next year.

Played 13 holes superbly well (for me) today and then the last 5 were some of the worst golf I think I've played in months. Hit one good shot in all of them combined (although that was a drive that I thought I didnt hit very well, couldn't see in the sun, then I found it 295 down the middle...)

98 scored total
