Sunday afternoons are not busy after 1pm
We waltzed round the first 9, took an hour and 20
Got to the 2nd 9 and, from what we could see, there was a 4 ball followed by 2 x 3 balls in front....nothing else....shouldn't have taken 2 hours, as a 2 ball, to do the 2nd 9 with so little traffic.
The group in front of us were not waiting on any shots, we waited on every tee shot on the 2nd 9
The course wasn't busy..
That's fair enough if the course isn't busy, they should have called you through.

A 4BBB after yesterday's slightly traumatic round. Another long course, no run, very tired by the end. Not a great individual round but some definite positives to take from today. Irons were better, driving more consistent.

New course for me today, Ponteland. A club in a wealthy area, not cheap to join, but boy was the clubhouse tired. Course was bland on the whole, the usp of the course was enormous greens. Don't think we will be back next year. Not a bad experience, just a bit meh 🤷‍♂️

We were 2nd out this morning, field was in 3 balls apart from a 2 ball in front of us, we finished in just over 3 hours, the group behind came in a full hour later, I cannot imagine what queues there were behind them

That’s pretty standard for a group at our place

Always have a slow play issue on Saturday morning

We have 4 or 5 groups go out first from 7-7:30 and the last group is round in 4 hours , there is another swindle behind us that are always at least 2/3 holes behind our last group and that starts the slow play off - the captain and vice captain played with us for a day last year and witnessed it - they have been warned but seem they are oblivious and to it

Played in a Stableford comp off the back blue tees, we were the last group out so weren't expecting a quick round, but 5 hours 10 minutes! o_O

And on top of that my play wasn't exemplary.

Thought I played well yesterday and was waiting for the wheels to fall off. So expected today's effort to be an anticlimax when I was in one of the club teams for the Surrey Fives. Not so. Thought I played even better today - driver didn't let me down and hybrids & irons were way better than normal. Highlight was two stunning (for me) shots on the par 5 4th just short of the fringe. Chip to 4ft and sank the putt. Normally its rare for me to be on the green in 4 shots. Continued in similar form and ended up winning my match 4&3. Club won the contest 4pts to 1pt. Hope I get selected for the next round.

I think the only way to deal with slow play is by having snipers dotted around the course taking out the offenders.

Leave the bodies where they fall as a reminder

Played yesterday and for the second round in a row I scrambled well and limited the damage to bogey only. Two rounds in a row without a double or worse is good going for me. Putted really well, didn’t miss anything six foot and in until I inexplicably missed a 1 foot putt on 17. Just a careless stroke and was more focused on the blade of grass sticking off the end of my putter rather than knocking the ball in.

77 in the end for a differential of 4.8. Considering the course is still wet and playing pretty long it’s been a promising start to the season. Also had another 2 which will pay out about £9 I think. I did the same last year, had a bunch of 2’s in April and May then didn’t have another till what felt like August.

Played awful Saturday. Hoped for better Sunday.
Started with a sand save par from the green side bunker then a beautiful tee shot drive on the 2nd, then the playing parters said you’ve teed off from the wrong tee. Ha ha. I’ve never done this before and will hopefully never again. Another poor round ensued. Hoping the other 3 didn’t know i was on the wrong tee before I teed off 😂🤣😂

Played my second round in about 5 years today. It didn't go well, as expected. Did have a handful of good shots and a lovely 20ish foot putt. Didn't keep any scores.
Booked in for a group lesson next Sunday.

Great day out yesterday... 12 of us from the North East swapped coasts for the day for the breathtaking Silloth. Blustery wind into your face for most of the opening nine holes made it a tough test. Charity Open.... course was the undoubted superstar, but the welcome, clubhouse, pro all deserving of a mention too, and the money going to a very good cause.

I know it's no longer a hidden gem, but a less remote location and it'd be even more acclaimed I'm sure.

Had my match against Mr keen as mustard, today. Giving away 15 shots.
Not a great start, topped my tee shot off the first 🤣, hit 3 wood to 100 hards and wedged to 3 feet. He was front in two, but skilled his chip though the back then duffed it on so he had a 20 ft putt for a 5 which he drained and I missed 🙄
I decided to rain it in off the tee and just make sure I hit the fairway, rather than try and take advantage of me being longer off the tee. He duffs it from the right side straight at the fairway bunkers but it ran straight through and onto the fairway 🙄 I hit a cracker of a 5 iron from 190 and hit it to about 4 feet. He then hit it through and hit a couple of Duff putts, marks for a 7 I sink for birdie and a win. lost 3 with a shot, won the 4th with a birdie as that was one of the 3 holes he want getting a shot, square. Hit a good drive on the 5th which I didn't think was in any trouble and would only have a wedge in, but had run out into the fairway bunker. Managed the front edge and putted close, which he didn't give me, even though it was under a foot away. He was short in two, putted close to win. I won 6th with a birdie. He won 7 and 8 where he managed a birdie. I won 9 as no shot. 2 at the turn. I won 10th par 5 as I managed on in two and another birdie. Back to 1. He won 11th with a shot where he found the front bunker, hit out and caned a 15 ft fir a 3, I was 4 ft away for a half but missed back to 2 down. Halfed 12. Won the par 3 14th which by now was into a stiff breeze. 223 to the flag, had to hit driver, which I stuck to 10 feet and another birdie for the win. 15 he had no shot and managed a half where he sank another monster putt for a 4. Game then turned my way. He lost his drive in the gorse right, but stuck his prov on the fairway, he couldn't reach in two but I did and the win after hi missed his putt for the 6.
Managed to win 17th with a 4 after he dunked in the burn and a 5 on the last forvthe half was good enough for the win.

A tough game and tbh I almost had to play my best golf to win with 6 birdies..

Hard work but a very satisfying win after his antics.

Luckily don't now have to play the next round end of June and by the time the rough will have grown so at least there will be a penalty for missing the fairway.
