This really is the most ridiculous superb game there is
Plagued with a running nose every time I tilted my head down really annoyed me on today's round
Index is 15.7 so anything under 90 is solid but my driver (that was so solid yesterday) was giving a little too much 'fade' today

Front 9 was 49 blows after par on 1st, really worried I wouldn't break the ton
A treble on 10 continued the days theme... Then played level golf home with 2 bogeys, two birdies and 4 pars, sniffing 500 times for 88

Can't wait for next game on Saturday...

Early tee time for a comp this morning, not the greatest start as I was running late, add in that neither of the two I was paired with showed up! I jumped in with the guys behind and we had a great round, didn’t lose pace on the 3ball in front, and the 3ball behind only had to wait once, after a lost ball.

Drove it well, irons were pretty rank and I lipped out 2/3 putts for an 80, inch better than my last round.

35 points in today’s competition. Slightly disappointing as I had 20 on the front 9 and a missed 2 foot birdie putt on the 9th niggled me a bit and I had 5 bogies on the back 9. Still a decent weekends golf with a gross 72 Saturday and 75 Sunday. (Par 70 course)

One of our Board comps today and at halfway I was bang on target.
The pins were tucked away in some really hard parts of the greens..one PP 3 putted from 3 feet...twice!
Best 9 holes I've played this month. 3 over and 1 under handicap.
Parred 10 and 11 and then the wheels exploded..inexplicably dropped 9 shots in 7 holes without really playing badly....
32 points wasn't a bad return considering and "only" 6 off the pace.....what could have been....
Got in just before the rain so that was a plus
No change on handicap and my last "free" round tomorrow...after which the soft and hard caps are but a breath away....

Had my worst hack in history, 12 three putts and a shank ob in the first major of the year. NETT 87 is not the way to start the season.

On the plus side I was blessed with great company so to me that’s all that matters.

4 hours bad golf is better than 4 hours bad company.

Pairs qualifying round yesterday. We shot 45 points and didn't drop a shot. Course was running for the first time this year. Great to be able to use the ground if needed. All parts of my game were decent for the first time in a while.
Great day out. Don't know if it will be enough to qualify as only top 16 pairs get through.
I know of one pair who had 51 so 15 spots left. Hard to know.

1st round of the 4BBB knockouts yesterday. Me & partner off 15 & 13, oppo off 2 & 13. Played them last year & won 2&1. They played pretty steady to start with, as did my partner. But I was awful off the tee (for awful, you can insert your own adverbial expletive in front of it). But I played some very good iron shots to recover and help keep us in it - just 1dn at the turn. But ended up at dormie 3 dn after 15. We won 16 but only halved 17 to lose 2&1. Highlight for me was the 9th where the 2hc missed the par 3 well left, (15yd left and 8ft below the green). Then stiffed his recovery to 15inches for a gimme par. I then sank a 40footer for birdie. Well, it made me smile at the time... Generally the 2hc's short game was a joy to behold - even it it did help beat us.

The draw will provide match 3 next year - presumably.

A better day at the office today...
Holes hadn't been changed from yesterday's comp so they were still tricky even off the yellows..
Starting on the back 9 with a birdiemis never a poor start and things continued in that vein taking 38 shots (+2) for the 9
Onwards to the front 9 and we stopped....loads of people playing slowly
1 hour 12 minutes for our first 9, pushing 2 1/2 for the 2nd.....
As usual my knees started to seize up and it was a real battle to keep going.
Came home withn17 points including a blob going OB from the tee for 37 total, adjusted score of 78.
Should get a small cut from that.
Happier days

Seniors match at home.
Got a bit of redemption after last week's 9&7 loss .

Halved the first two holes and looked favourites on the third as I was on the green in reg and their best guy was behind the bunker for the same shots, on a completely bare lie with no green to work with. But he promptly stuck it to gimme. I was at the back of the green for a front flag and three putted to lose the hole!

But then me and my partner got into a good groove of dovetailing and won the next to level, halved the 5th after one of their guys putted in from off the green, but I returned the favour on the par three 6th when I putted in from off the green for birdie and the win. We won the next three as well to be 4 up at the turn.

Won the 10th, halved 11 and then won 12 and 13 for a 7 and 5 win.

I had a couple more birdies including on the difficult 174 yard 18th where I hit 3 iron to 8 feet and holed the putt.

Played on Saturday in a scratch and handicap medal qualifier. The top 15 and last years winners go into a matchplay KO. I had the best scratch score so am seeded No 2 in the scratch KO as last years winner is automatically seeded No 1. I should have also qualified for the handicap KO but for a schoolboy error on the last green. My ball was covered in mud and like an idiot I picked it up to clean it before I had marked it. Realising what I had done I immediately put the ball back down and marked it before picking it up again to clean it. The one stroke penalty added to my score on the last hole meant that I missed out on qualifying in 16th place of the handicap KO on count back 😢 . What a plonker.

Had today off as we knew we'd be home late from Scotland last night. Ended up getting home at 4am, in bed by 5, woken by the little one at 9:30, and off to play golf with my dad at 1pm. We played at Chalgrave Manor - didn't get rave reviews on this forum when I asked but we figured we'd try it anyway. Odd layout as there are five par 5s and four of them are on the front nine. Quite a long course at 6100 off the yellows, but the back nine is considerably shorter than the front due to that par 5 discrepancy - in fact there's a stretch of six holes without a par 4 at one stage.

Slow start, expected with the lack of sleep, scraped two bogeys then two doubles. Kicked back into gear with two pars and a birdie then though. Got a second birdie on the 10th (both of them on par 3s) but silly doubles on the 14th and 17th were annoying. Ended up shooting 85 for 37 points. Ball-striking was hit and miss but putting was excellent and chipping was decent as well.

My dad didn't play well, course was a bit too long and extremely hilly for him. Grass was deceptively long in the rough and all too easy to lose a ball there. Greens were quicker than they looked as well, he's normally good at putting but he knocked quite a few long.

Pleasant knock with the wife, her first outing if the season. I wasn't concentrating and shot a 93. She clouted the ball round, literally. Great off the tee and up to the green but then rubbish. It's the high h/c syndrome , as I call it, when they see the flag they under hit the ball. Still, lovely day, almost had the course to ourselves. Oh and the greens had been ironed. Massive amount of work has already been done on them. We just need two weeks of growth and they will be awesome.

The most solid round I've played for a month....
77 blows....37 points...Index up 0.2 as a good score dropped off..
4 bogeys, 1 double and the rest pars..
Never in trouble, the double caused by a couple of shocking lies
The days are getting happier....

Another in the 70’s, happy with the 36 points but it was far from my best, felt like I left at least 3 shots out there. Silly double bogey on 16 was completely unnecessary but making birdie on 11 from the heather was miraculous. Evens itself out I guess.

Putting was not great!

Great front 9 of +2, poor back 9 +5

5/13 FIR, 9 GIR 35 putts
2 birds, too many mistakes…

Isn’t it amazing how Easy the game seems once you can get your drive away. The last three rounds in our fuddle I have won overall. Once as a single player and twice in three ball team play.
I have nearly always hit across the ball, but when teeing up now I look for anything that’s three or four inch in front of the ball where I want my “ swing plane to go through. In simple terms hit through the ball. On Tuesday a PP mullered his drive. The other PP said “ that’s your best of the day. I hit mine and was 5 yds behind. They were as astonished as me. Hitting it straight is not gaining me 10 -15 yards but in excess of 50. Happy days for Tashyboys golf at the moment.

Pretty good just going up 0.2 as I think you were fearing a 0.5/0.6👍

Played last night and it was a bit of a weird round. I’ve been trying to make a few changes in my swing and they seem to be working as I hit the ball great for the first time in months, not a single chunk in sight. Unfortunately I also air mailed 6 greens due to the better ball striking and my distance control on long putts was awful causing 3 3 putts. Overall probably the happiest I’ve came off the course in months even although I had 3 doubles in the last 6 holes for an 82.

Shot 78 last Wednesday and came off the course muttering that I need a lesson after 5 chunks yet 82 this week and I’m all smiles. Strange game.

First round of one of our matchplay knock-outs. Was giving the oppo a a good few shots. Won the 1st hole then played like an absolute divvock to be 5 down after 8. But then got it together and got back into things to be just 2 down after 12. Finally lost 3&2. But the really irritating thing was that twice, (twice I ask you) I hit really great shots to great positions on the fairway - but then couldn't find the ball. One I put down to soft conditions in a "blind spot'- annoying, but it was what it was. The other was my best and longest drive of the day. We saw it land and bounce down the fairway just into a slight dip. But not to be seen anywhere when we went to play it. Hindsight makes me think the singleton we let through whilst we were looking in the woods for my oppo's ball, probably picked it up. But realised this too late. But both turned 'very likely won' holes into 'lost' holes. Could have been 1 down with 4 to play. Match could have been so much closer...

The other 0.3 came today..
Last 2 holes did for me..looking at another 78ish gross and a deep footprint in a bunker and a ball that rolled right up the hill instead of left down the hill....3 shots gone and it's up to 6.6.
Probably didn't help that, as a 2 ball we caught the roll up after e holes and then played at 4 ball pace for the rest of the round....:mad:
Most things hurt now as I struggle with standing around doing nothing.....

So you let someone through and he nicked your ball on the fairway.
jeez that’s just not on.
