I was in Ireland last weekend, an annual trip with my golf society. Imagine our surprise when beside us in the check-in queue at Gatwick was Mr Woosnam and Mr Torrance. Both on their way to Ballybunion for the Irish senior open. Woosie chatted for a while, he had just flown over from the states and the airline had lost his clubs! Woosie was great he had all the time in the world to chat to us and was interested in where we were playing etc. Nice to see him win after meeting him. Imagine what he would of scored if he had his own clubs!
Has anybody else met the top pros in a similar way?

A friend of mine who no longer plays tells of how he played in a comp as a teenager in Largs when this youngster turned up a whupped his ass - a young Sam Torrance. :D

I was going to ask if they were travelling with their Forgan and Slazenger clubs!!

lmao - Priceless!!

"In my opinion, the K1 Fast is the Ferrari of drivers..." so says Sam!

I played on Monday at my course and the 4 ball in front of me contained a certain Kenny Burns, twice euro cup winner.

Didn't fing out until I got off the course. Good job really as I hated him. He played for Leeds in the twilight of his career.
I may well have sent one in his direction.

Met Des Smyth at Seapoint Golf club, Des designed the course. Great course in Louth near Drogheda. Was intersted in how we found the course.

The wife and her buddies met Padraig on the plane going to Malaga last October--they were smitten by him, naturally autographs obtained.

We had John Daly in our club during the Irish Open giving a driving exhibition and Q&A session.

Played golf and had dinner with a few members of the Irish cricket team before the 2007 World Cup---they were "non entities" at that stage. A bit more famous now thanks to a victory over Pakistan in 07.
