I have sat and watched today why Westwood won't....

....Win a Major IMO.All the shots that cost him the title today were with his very dodgy wedge play, the shot he had on 16 was not, to me (albeit from the armchair) nor Radar commentating, an at all difficult one yet the best he could do was 30 feet....3 jabs later and the title race was gone.Sadly he had 2 or 3 other occasions today when they were saying ''this isn't hard to get down in 2'' yet 3 to get down it was.

Quality Driver,long/medium/short iron player there is no doubting and a quality ball striker to boot but for me a Major will never come his way due to his questionable chipping action. I feel that he knows it too and this could be seen in the temper he was showing towards the end.

Fantastic round and performance from big Bob though and it is great to see him back...shoe in for Ryder Cup.

What a load of utter [****].

If Tiger can win so many majors and be a crap driver then Lee can win a major because the Race is a new Major and he won it.

I believe Tiger has won as many Majors as he has because of his brilliant short game not his ability with the driver.

Sergio is a prime example, tee to green he can be as good as anyone in the world, but everyone knows his lousy putting has always been his nemesis and Westwood's chipping is his, that's why Roe was bought in.

Can't get my head round the driver issue here. SSNews said his replacement driver had a softer shaft and he had problems with accuracy.
Hang on - this is Ping's No 1 player. Does he not have access to new equipment when necessary? Surely there was some Ping representation there that could supply a new driver to the exact spec that the No4 player in the world requires!! I believe he's using an Aldila Prototype shaft but surely..................

Good win by Karlsson. Good to have him back

He was saying this a few weeks ago he described his shafts as feeling like fishing rods, I do beleive he will win a major though and I think this may be his year, also agree its really good to have Karlsson back great great player and another one who should win majors.

Very harsh comment as it is only Westwood's second outing of the year, the new groove rules have come into force, and he was in a bad mood because his replacement driver had the wrong shaft specs. Let's just wait and see, shall we.

Totally agree. All this Westwood bashing makes the praise he got for his last two rounds in Dubai seem a distant memory. Its early season, he obviously has a bit of rustiness to his game (especially the short game) and he had a driver he didn't like. He hasn't become a bad player overnight and I think in a month or two he'll be as good as he was at the climax of last year and that a major is still very achievable especially if Woods does decide not to play

I saw the highlights today while at the gym. The pro's stand over the ball for far too long, Westwood is the worst. He seems so hesitant when 100 yards in and chipping. Putting - I thought he had fallen asleep he was standing over the ball for so long!

I'm gonna find him and give him one of Rotella's books. Pick a target and hit it - he'll be a much better player then

I think they take a long time because every shot they hit is critical so they have to be 100% composed, 100% commited and 100% focused on the shot. Anything less and they run the risk of fluffing the shot.

Coupled with that is the fact it is the Sunday of a tournament and nerves will creep in so a shot that they would normally walk up to and nail become ever so slightly more difficult.

I've played with a number of low handicappers and professionals and some of them take ages over a shot but then they tend to put it exactly where they want it to go.
