Question re rust on wedges (when not designed): I've purchased a Jaws Raw Full Toe Chrome 56 Wedge from Callaway pre-owned in "average" condition. There was some coating that was gone from the middle and present on the outside - I thought it's remains from a sticker or lacquer and wanted to wash it off. After soaking in warm water for 5 mins - it became obvious the middle of the face was rusting (water was slightly tainted, as from tea). Would you be concerned about such a wedge longterm? I've hit it really well at the range the previous evening, but I wonder how rust might impact spin or the longevity of the club.
I belive these are chromed on the head but not the face so it’s designed to rust.

That just looks like it was put away wet and has rusted away.
The grooves look fine so if you hit it well happy days.

Thank you for all the answers! I’ll keep the wedge as the grooves not only look ok but are sharp/grippy to the feel.

An alternative for me was to buy a JAWS Full Toe Raw Black Wedge 56, 10 bounce (would look great with the black Big Berthas). But the black model has C bounce which is more classic. What I’ve read about the J bounce on my raw chrome wedge suggests it’s better for me.

The Callaway designer wrote:
The current Full Toe offering has a type of C grind on it with a moderate to low bounce angle and a fairly narrow total sole. This sole was not as versatile as I felt it could be, especially for the size of face that product has. The player could never really open the blade up and have the wedge rest on that relief sole. Due to the lower bounce angle the sole also had little to no camber from heel to toe and was much flatter than it should be.
And
The new Jaws Raw Full Toe wedge grind, the J grind, is a sort of mash up of several different grinds I have played, experimented with, and developed over my time working with wedges. The total sole is wider than the previous generation. It has a higher bounce angle, very aggressive heel relief, a nearly full-soled toe, and camber from heel to toe. The aggressive heel relief helps the golfer achieve maximum versatility on shorter shots allowing them to open the blade easily, while the toe side width helps with full shots.”

If they are anything like the Caley heads, be prepared for a fight to get the shimmed tip seated.

You might want to invest in a 9mm drill bit to shave off a little material.
Dude the fight was real😅
First of all i have only done 1 club as a tester, waiting on new ferrules and STANDARD brass shims lol..I had the overaized shims, and I couldn't get it down the last bit. I was panicking and glue all over the place. So I removed the shim and putted some more glue mixed with glass beads..its stiff now and looks to sit greit, but time will tell🤔 it might be ok, since the gap wsnt 2 big in the first place, and felt pretty good when I glued it, I also made sure it was fixed straigt during hardening..any inputs?😅

Following the therapy of my post on random irritations the other day, I popped into Mountain Warehouse this morning and bought a large clip for my golf towel. Fitted easily, I won't have to fight it in future when I'm taking it off and on to wash it.

Yes, clearly I could have done this before........fool 😄

I think the hint is in it's name , "Raw" means the face is designed to rust over time and use, which is supposed to give extra grip and thus spin onto the ball.
It was a lot more common before the arrival of micro grooves and intricate milling of the club faces we see now.

7 neon orange Pure Grips Pro grips and a pack of neon orange ferrules.

Going to remove the PX IO shafts from the Caley heads and replace them with either stiff graphite (possibly Recoil) or stiff NS Pro 950.

Get some funky orange on them while I’m at it.

Took a trip over to GC4C and picked up a set of NS Pro 950GH shafts for these. Got them glued up and got the neon grips on the 9 and PW and they will certainly stand out 😂.

The PX shafts just weren’t right.

Couple of S23 wedges in the eBay black Friday discount sale.

Also, as always I found great deals about best gambling online services here https://casinosanalyzer.com/ on black Friday too. This service always helps me find good and reliable online gamble games. I like to relax in the evening after a good game of golf at some gaming service, and by the way, I manage to win quite often!
I ordered mine early last week. So good. Way better than the SM8s and T22s I flipped between last year. It’s a pity that I didn’t have time to buy them on sale too :)

After finding out an eBay purchased putter grip was a fake, I joined the super stroke club today and got a big chunky pistol tour model fitted.

Looking forward to giving it a go, never really had anything along those lines

A couple of Taylormade high toe wedges and a used, but very good condition, Stealth plus 19° hybrid with stiff HZRDUS shaft which are my favourite shafts for woods. More to tidy up the bag and was missing a 52°. Was using an Adams pro mini hybrid but needed something with lower loft.

Hopefully now I've finished tinkering for a while I've been through 4 sets of irons in just over a year, 3 drivers, various woods, 3 putters. Need to stop it just throwing money away.
