OK now I know its the English way to moan about the weather. Sun I can handle (cap, sunscreen) but this humidity is beginning to take its toil. I drunk a litre and half of water over 18 holes yesterday plus a carton of coconut water. I ate two bananas and some nuts but after 12 holes I was seriously flagging. It wasn't so much the 30 degree heat but the lack of air. Anyone else struggling or is it just me? Any thoughts on things I can do to help? I was walking in the rough for some shade and taking refuge out of the sun where I could so felt I was doing what I could

You want to try lifting weights in a gym where the air con is broke and there are no windows in this weather

Its probably just your fitness levels

its also the actual air temp Homer, basically the body is too hot and energy is spent trying to cool it down.

If I knew it was gonna be 30+ I wouldnt bother playing personally

With all the bananas, nuts and coconut juice you ate, its a wonder you weren't swinging in the trees.

Not just fitness levels; humidity robs your body of mineral salts and knocks your other systems - digestive, temp regulation, hormones for six ..

I played yesterday had a pint of water before, 1 and half litres of water on the course pint of lime & soda straight after ........... Then far too much beer and wine after

Not been the best day today but worth it as a great round and meal after with my mates

The humidity was tough today. Started off and it was throwing it down so had a waterproof jacket on but this had to come off before we finished the first. Replaced it with a light wind jacket but this was also off after the third as my back was soaking with sweat. It was quite refreshing from then on in

Unless you have some weird health issue I done see an issue.

Two pints of squash before leaving for golf this morning and no drink until the 19th where I signed the winning card for captains day comp, what's better it was me that won.....

Its not a good idea Homer to load up on food to much in the heat as your bodys working to digest the food and cant cool your body down. The waters fine the more the better but I would have ditched the coconut juice and nuts and just had a banana and energy bar. Also if you play on a full stomach ie just after lunch that wont help especially if your loading up with food on top of that.

I've Umpired Tennis a couple of times in Aus when the temp is 42*C in the shade and the only adjustment is to keep applying Aero-Gard to keep the flies off! However, anything above 25*C in the Thames Valley is murder!

Fluids, fluids, fluids! The bananas etc don't make a difference to heat exhaustion, but still need to be taken/processed and H2O (and electrolytes) is the key to that. Good old Lucozade/Gatorade works best imo along with 'the usual' foods.

Eating and drinking sugary food and drink wont do anything for the humidity, it will only give you a blood sugar rush that will make you feel worse after a short time. Drinking water was the right thing to do and eating nuts is also good. I find a towel where half is wet so you can wipe your face then re-dampen the towel with some water as you go is good, also consider a dark umbrella to keep the sun off, it may look a bit odd but is sensible. There's some clothing that wicks away moisture worth looking at as there is nothing worse than wet clingy shirts when its humid.

500ml Orange Juice 500ml Water and a small pinch of salt

Home made lucozade, used to use this when I cycled a lot

Other than that, just don't play in the heat of the day, or get a buggy ;)

I used to live in Hong Kong, so this is nothing :)
