I ask because ours is in probably the worst condition I've seen it at the moment, and it's not like we've just come off the back of a bad winter! :(

The greens, which are normally quick and true, are slow and lumpy with bare patches, the ball won't hold the green even when hitting onto the green from 100 yards. The rough is knee deep in amongst the trees and you'll struggle to find a ball in the first cut. The bunkers, which have been renovated over the last two winters are inconsistent, some have deep fluffy sand while others have a thin layer of sand over hard packed mud. Even the tee boxes are uneven and unkempt!

Absolute goat track at the moment!

Our course is looking the best I have seen it in the whole time I have been a member - up there with the best in the county

Have the green currently just under 11 on the stimp which is unheard of for us

Ours is looking smashing. It's my first season and the place is outstanding. Greens are running at 9.5 on the stimp with 0.5mm cut being taken off this week. There are some patches on the greens due to a big algae problem over winter but the growth is coming through very quickly at the moment.

It's a joy to play on at the moment, just looking forwards to the sunny weather to make it complete.

That's a shame as I quite like your course, I know some of our lot played it last week in a pro am and said it wasn't looking its best.

Ours on the other hand is fantastic, the Hotchkin is looking good but the Bracken is in great condition as well.

All looking good at the moment

Greens dusted with sand after the ET comp two weeks ago but other than that it couldn't be much better

Cooden is looking great at the moment.
Fairways are lush with a nice stripy pattern and the greens are not too bad at all.
Some of the tees have had a spraying recently but I think this is to get them looking good for the mens invitation this coming week-end

Greens are getting better in terms of speed, smoothing out a little too. Annoyingly people seem to be hell bent on not repairing pitch marks. However thats less of an issue as the are rock hard at present.

Fairways hmmmm, generally ok but growth in places is devoid and the green keeper is doing his best to tighten them up and give some shape by pulling in the 1st cut a little. Fair overall though and the first cut isn't too punishing. I know i found enough of it today.....

Bunkers, crud! Want to use stronger words but can't. Members aren't raking them or if they do they inisit in pulling the sand out to the edges. So if you land in the middle of the bunker you've a lie with little sand. Roll in near an edge and you have a beautiful lie to splash out of if greenside.

I'd say 6/10 at the moment but big improvement from when I first played it last year when looking to join.

pretty good, though they have been buggering around with the greens of late, fertilizer went on last week and was still sitting on them for the first round of the club champs. All gone yesterday though.

rough starting to get a bit lust in places, due to the rain we have been having most nights, last year the rough did not really grow due to the dry hot weather. i would say within 2 weeks if you miss the fairway you will struggle to find the ball.

Both courses looking great and playing very well.

We are hosting the Lagonda Trophy this week so the Old Course is primped, preened and polished up, greens have been ironed and are pretty damn quick. All the work carried out over the winter is really coming to the fore.

Whickham is picking up, the greens are getting better, running more true then they have for a while, though some are still a little bumpy. The green staff did say they were going to iron them twice weekly, but I guess they'll be waiting for the grass to grow where they were solid tined.

The fairways are green and lush, I thought maybe a little to fluffy and could do with a trim, first cut is thick but short, not that had to find a ball sent sideways.

All in all the course is looking good, with some more warm weather, sunshine and a little rain, it'll be in top condition in no time.

Recovering now , they did alot of work on he greens as they hadn't got the money the last few years , & greens are only now getting where they should be ,

In saying that we have a class Head greenkeeper & crew so il put up with a bit if they say its needed or for the good of the course , without exception they get it right

currently having major work done on the course, in excess of 40 trees are being removed, some areas are worse for wear due to the work, but by and large the fairways and greens are in fantastic condition.

Ours is vastly improved over the last couple of weeks as the grass growth has taken off, the trees have filled out etc. Greens still a week or two from their best, theyre very true now but not been cut down that low as yet. For what we pay its in excellent condition, especially compared to some of the other courses Ive played lately that are supposedly comparable

Played/seen 6 different courses in the last 3 weeks and all are looking top notch!

It hasn't been a great year for greens, but all were pretty much perfect (unlike some of the putting!). Might be interesting in the next couple though as Poa (Annua) is starting to flower (about 4 weeks late!).

Don't seem to have had (yet) the weather where rough just spurts and GK's can't control it for a fortnight, though that could be just around the corner! Normally happens about the time Poa flowers!

Looking good mate, your new greenkeeper clearly paying dividends!

Massively mate - played all the supposed top courses and would put our greens on a par with JOG if not better - certainly quicker - had the ladies county champs last week and the county were very impressed and looks like we might have picked up some lady members from it
