Just logged on to Howdidido and noticed my handicap has went up .1 to 2.6!! :D

It appears I have gone up on 5th Dec after a Winter Comp (Stableford, non counter in winter) in which I scored 32 pts.

I ended the year at 2.4 which was actually an incorrect handicap as I was still due .1 from September and I fought to get this .1 (you may remember I posted about this) back as the extra shot is a help in the winter as our par is tougher in the winter and as all our winter comps are non counters....I did manage to get the .1 adjusted so started the winter at the 100% correct figure of 2,5.

Now how the hell have I went up .1?? :D

Homer, has that 'imposter' from your club been up to Goswick??!! ;)

No doubt a one for the Match Secretary but it sure as hell has me puzzled!

IM02,Screwback,Dano have any of you guys had a 'strange .1' appear?? God knows you need a few Dano.... :)

Are you ever satisfied?

First you beg for a .1 then the club are generous and give you an extra one and you still complain???

Maybe there really is a phantom out there messing with forum members handicaps :D

The comp was marked down as a non-qualifier therefore you shouldn't have got the 0.1 that way.

I reckon it's possible you've had the 0.1 as part of the year-end adjustment procedure through Club2000 software which M&H Sec's are asked to run. Saying that, 0.1 seems too small an amount to put it up by but it's discretionary from the handicapping committee whether they apply it or not so the 0.1 could be from that.

As you say ask the M&H.

A year end adjustment is made by your club after going over your scores for the season. 48 guys were affected by it this year, including myself who got cut 0.4 :D

It happend to me as well 3 times in the winter league then just happend no notice i was up to 10.4 even tho is said they were non counting. After a call to the club it was all rectified but it had happend to everyone who played so Howdidido were to blame

At the calendar year end the handicapping software runs an analysis of all the scores returned the previous year and advises the person running it to lower some handicaps and raise others. It does raise some players stress levels when they find out.

It's basically picking up who's a bandit and who's needing more shots through trends in scoring that maybe can't be analysed through the returning of cards alone.

Usually only a handful of players in a whole club get an adjustment this way annually.

DODGERGATE!

I'm saying nothing other than it proves how easily these mistakes can be made. Hope you get it sorted though as at your level I know how hard it is to get those extra 0.1's off

Hey, Homer, he's been playing that crap recently that they've taken pity on him.

I remember when he used to post on here and was a really low handicap player. His handicap has gone up by almost a third this past year !

It will soon be Cat 2 if he's not carefull, the slippery slope..... ;)

Cat2, are high end still allowed to play in medal competitions? next thing it'll be dare I say it, double figures! :D

I have just checked and I started at 2.4 and ended at 2.5 and played in over 20 Qual Comps.....with not many poor ones,I think I have had a steady if unspectacular season (individually)..I reckon it may well be that the new MS has found the sheet with the said .1 I was asking for which strangely went 'missing' after I handed it in for the old MS to adjust.

I will make a call tomorrow and try and find out....what I am willing to bet is that I aint played in a comp when I told folk I was otherwise engaged.. :D ;)

Spoken to MS and he has not a clue.....he is going to look into it.

He did say tho he has processed scores going back to May that he has found in the office since taking over in Dec....Maybe I had a score o/s that I don't recall :D

Screwback you are also up .1 to 1.2... :D

I knew this would happen, I knew it. I wouldn’t bother, it’s just HDID and their new policy against Tiger lovers….TALGU….translated that means Tiger Ass Lickers Go Up. It was implemented just before Christmas and I’m surprise it’s took them so long, probably the snow, to get round to you Englishmen who pretend to be Scottish. :o

My handicap says 1.2 it should be 1.1 by my calculations and i dont think i have had a stableford adjustment from Chester le street after that 7 on the par 4  so that would take another .1 off :D now we have a "decent" MS will have to give him a phone and find out whats occuring.

As for it being a annual adjustment i dont think that can be the case as the club does not deal with cat1 handicappers the county do.

To dream about getting that low!!! The society I play made me beg for an increase despite an average stableford score of 26 for the season.
We now have a computer as well, but going up 0.3 every time will take me ages. I really shoud get a couple of lessons and put some quality practice in, not just the bashing of balls that I usually do!

Good luck for 2010, and hopefully you can get down to 1.?

This is what I was going to say but thought i'd best read all the posts first just in case someone else brought it up.

Definitely cant be adjusted by your club on general play / reviews if oyu're a cat1 golfer
