Hi I bought a Ping Anser brass putter and its highly polished but its not a great job. I would like to dull it back to resemble one I had in the 80s.the putter I have is a 90s one. Any ideas on the net they recommend ammonia where do I get that from.

Smelling salts is the only one I can think of...

Is the brass coated with anything, if not I am thinking that you just need to handle it a lot, maybe after eating a pizza... get it all mucky and it should oxidized pretty well.

Not an easy option but you could soak the head in a mild acid solution.

Takes away a polished effect and replaces with an antique brass effect.

just give it a nice little clean up with a brillo pad - then let nature get it back where you want it over time.

there's no hurry, and you just need to remove the coating that's preventing it doing what it used to.
