On a separate but related note: Some of you guys have very cheap membership! Mine is just over £1000 now and it's by no means an exclusive club. In fact, it's the cheapest private club in the area.

For those paying £600 or less, are these 18 hole courses? Do you have an age-related reduction?

18 holer but I do get an age related reduction. I think full membership is around £860. This surprised me actually although it is still one of the cheapest in the area.

The average in the middle to north of Northumberland is £600-650. Yes 18 holes, yes age related discounts. It's just how the pricing is up here.

Lucky you!!! ?

Lovely part of the world too. Had some cracking holidays in Northumberland. ?
Ironically, I'm moving to a club that will be around £750. It's that little bit nearer to Newcastle and that pushes the prices up. The clubs around Newcastle and south of the Tyne are more £750-950. Northumberland has a lower population density, perhaps that keeps the costs down in order to attract people?

At Dunbar we are paying about £830 a year, very good value for what we get, think it went up about 3% on previous year. I'm 65 next year but won't get the age discount as subs are due on Jan 1st and my birthday is the 28th, might email and ask them to consider giving me it, I will have been a member for 41 years after all !

For our £575 we get to play on Golf Monthly ranked 51st and Golf World ranked 47th in UK top 100.

There is also age related reductions for those under 30 so all in all rather good value I would say.

When I was in Scotland last year, I was shocked at the value for money the members get. Such a world away from the South East, where even dreadful courses charge £1000.

I pay just over £1000at a course in the Stockport area , it’s a vibrant club and close to closing membership but lots of members are complaining of struggling to book a tee time . I’ve just joined in January , I will give it a year and review .

Must be a new member discount. ;) I'm £789.50 including affiliation fees. No complaints though, been the same price for 3 years now.

We had a long time member resign because he was denied the discount for age long time service fees.
His birthday was only 1 day after the fee cut of date.

My 9 hole home club is a maximum of £200, my second club is £650 including bar credit of £30, and outside the big name links courses and 2 inland courses is I believe as expensive as it gets in Aberdeenshire

Lucky you. No age dispensation and my fees for 7 day membership is close to £1,900 but still comparable to other private members clubs in the vicinity. Add in my locker (essential so I can commute to the club in the summer and everything is up there ready to play) and nudging £2,000
