How much £££ on driving range

£50 to become a member of the PGA academy at the Belfry but that £50 is credited to your card so its FREE to join.

I then get half price balls (NiKE practice 95% distance balls) 50 for £2.40 I think it is.

Use of the short game area

Use of the practice putting green

Very good deal I believe.

The range I use is a Srixon centre if excellence. As such the balls are great.

25 balls is £2.50. That's my lunch hour practice.

I'll do that once or twice a week, at the minute once with managing my gammy wrist back to health, so on average about £10-£15 per month at the minute.

I bought a multi-use card at my club at the end of last season, it can be used 10 times and I've probably still got 6 to use, as I haven't used a single basket all of this year .... So a grand total of zero on the range.

It costs £4.50 per 100 balls at one local range and I try and get over there at least once a week. Also make use of their pitch and putting area as well for no extra charge. Only problem is it's not very well floodlit after dark.

Another local range is £6 per 100 balls with far more extensive floodlighting and it stays open later in the evening.

Hit a few before each round as a quick warm up - cost = zero

I took 14 months to use a 10 bucket (75 balls) ticket which cost £37 I think. Club has changed hands since though so not sure on new prices. Like Dotty001 would rather get on the course. I work evening, so if I get on the course in the morning can have 1.5 hour practice playing 2 or 3 balls down each hole and a few more round the greens.

£2 in the last year, can't be bothered with it as I don't think I do the same on the course.

Some people spend far too much time on the range

At the one I use a guy hits 240 balls every sunday, has done for years, he plays off 9 he said and he is always "changing this" or "tweaking that" and videoing and playbacking swings on his iphone.

I really dont see how he enjoys golf.

Free, all prov 1 balls. but i do have to pick them up after;)

Is that at the west? I thought they had a dispenser?

Suppose it is a good thing that I don't have to pay for practise balls but on the flip side picking them up in amongst all the junior groups that run from Oct-Mar every Saturday & Sunday is ruining my opinion of the club. Last year wasn't so bad but with an extra coach this year it's nigh impossible to get anything longer than an hour without being ambushed by 6-9 kids, seems members around here can only use the range on weekdays. And before it's suggested, practising on the course just frustrates me, it's so time inefficient.

Converts to £8 a hundred but recently took an annual membership for the equivalent of £360 for unlimited baw's as I'd spend around £50-£60 a month otherwise

That's nearly a second membership to a golf club !!

Not in this part of the world it isn't :(

Edit: And before anyone thinks its all idyllic & high living, I cant afford even one full membership at any course so the range membership is great value for me :(

yes they have a dispenser, but i go over to Dunbars practice ground and anyone can use that, plus its covered so if its blowing a gail you get some shelter.

Though the machine at Nairn gets put away Nov to March so you use your own balls over the winter, which is about the only time i use the practice ground.

Where are you a member, can't be around here ?

Unless I'm have lessons, nothing as I don't go.

Unless accompanied by a pro, the range is a bad and evil place where the swing demons live. They're always on my shoulder saying "Try this, try that, hit it harder, change your grip, have you ever thought of getting some lag in this laughable excuse for a golf swing"

I find it much better to stay away and leave the demons to mess up someone else :D
