As a beginner (<<< my bog-standard starting phrase/caveat to any thread), my main focus on the course is taking what I've learned at the range and trying to make a decent connection with the ball. Obviously, it's inevitable that there will be a few duff shots along the way with the ball going two feet in front of me or trundling 50 yards down the fairway.

Simple poll for my own knowledge really:

1. What is your handicap (roughly, if not confirmed)
2. How many duffs / COMPLETE mis-hits creep into your average round?

I'll get the ball rolling (pun)-

28 / 10

27 / about 7 , ten if you include big slices off the tee

18, and probably 3 or so. Usually a fatted iron, or a mishit fairway or hybrid 2nd shot on par 5.
I'm not counting an underdone wedge shot, as I didn't duff the ball, but I lose a couple a round here.

Still usually shoot 40 stableford points or close to it, I need qualifying comps to start again soon.

very few actual duffs. somtimes i might not make the best contact but actual duffs are few are far between.

*please note that this is under normal dry conditions. the real number increases as the course saturates due to being a digger ;)
