Hi all..and a happy new year..

Had my best ever round yesterday 89..broke 90 for the first time so really chuffed.I only lost 2 balls which was amazing,Whats the most or least balls you have used in a round?

Steve

The most for me probably about 8 at The Wisley (more water than grass) 18 months ago - dunked my approach to 18 in the water and that was the last ball in my bag.

the all time record I have seen was when we did a trip over to Ireland with some clients a couple years ago and one guy I played with lost 21 balls (Yes twenty one) in a round at Ballybunion. He came armed with a Sainbsury's bag full of refurbed Provs and was pretty deep into them by the end of the round

We were playing stableford and he had 4 points. 3 going out (a net birdie at a par 3 and just the one coming back!

must have lost into the double figures when i first started, I could hit the ball a long way but usually way to the right and i have never been one to spend very long looking for a ball.

The least amount would be none, went round St Andrew's old course 3 under once.
Only problem was when i went to lift the cup my alarm went off and woke me up.
ruined the perfect round for me,hate bloody alarms!

Most for me was at Montrose Medal, it was a week after it had been used for Open qualifiying, rough was waist high and wind speed was at least 25mph, lost 9 balls on my way to a 107.
That was definetly the worst day of my golfing life.

Remember losing 11 around Nairn Dunbar GC when I was a junior.

Had no balls in my bag as I was preparing to go out but met up with my teacher who lived beside the course. He gave me a dozen tatty Blue Flashes out of sympathy! Lost all but one!

Went up there again last year and lost 5 in one round! So, I must be getting better.

only done two rounds todate but lost two on each round funnily enough all in different water hazards first round i took 24 with me !!!! 2nd round i took just six titleist lake balls with me. perhaps i should take a few more just incase.

A pro v1/HXtour 56 regularly lasts 3 rounds, its not a case of losing the ball as the ball becoming unplayable.
The worst I can ever remember was at Scrabo Tower losing two off the first teebox, basically the teebox is perched on top of the pro shop and you have a wide fairway at 150 yards narrowing to 10 yards at 200 with the carpark lining the entire way up to 200 yds on the right and gorse left right and centre, Ive never played the first hole well ever and never beat my handicap round there.

I lost 8 balls playing Scotscraig a few weeks ago. That's the most lost for 18 holes, I have lost 6 playing 9 holes.

The most I had from one ball was 6 rounds last winter, it was a Pro V1, which looked like a ball from the 1800's by the time I "retired" it.

My Callaway warbird no.72 (that's how I introduced it on the tee today!) has just completed 72 holes, fresh as a daisy, hard as a rock!!! NO smilies or grazes.

I lost 6 pts wound (remember them?) once in just one round, finished off the game with a top flite XL - why do these not go in the water, or the rough, or the O.O.B.????

I'd be keen to lose all my srixon green, but sadly they don't go far enough. srixon ad333 average carry (90-95 mph driver) 212 yards. srixon green average total distance 196.5 yds......w.t.f.?

Lost 14 at Braid Hills once. Best is 5 rounds when the original strata was launched. Borrowed one from the pro to see if it was any good. Gave it back after 5 rounds saying' nah, not for me, they don't last'.

That's pretty good for Braid Hills isn't it, Murph? That dogleg 16th by any chance? That hill on the right IS actually made of golf balls which have become overgrown with gorse over the years.

emptied my bag once, well into double figures (16, 18 something like that) but in the last round of 2007 I managed my first complete round with the same ball. (Interestingly a Warbird!)

I used to lose at least half a dozen and sometimes the losses were well into double figures. Now I only tend to only use 1 or 2 and those are mainly due to ill advised shots over water. I have still only finished 1 round with the same ball.

Braid hills is a laugh. I played once, lost two balls, and was still nearly on h/cap. I thought if I went back, a little local knowledge would help cut out the mistakes, and oops, 14 balls later......

I was made redundant a few years ago, and my ex-colleagues got me a box of ProV1s, which I promised I'd only use on holiday; true to my word, I managed to lose eight of them in one round at Laguna in Portugal !

I once lost 6 balls in a medal round. Three brand new ProVs all landed within 20ft of each other in the rough and I never saw any of them again. OK the rough was knee high but...

I ended up that round playing with a ball I found otherwise I would have walked in from the 14th.
