how long is your course??

A bit off subject but I like the 'Slope' system used by some countries, where the course difficulty is used to decide the individuals handicap for a course rather than the length. You get a handicap based on the difficulty of your own course and it gets adjusted by a formula when playing a course that is considered more difficult or easy.

I looked into the slope system a while back. It seemed interesting. My course is a push-over for the low h'cap or scratch player. However, for a higher h'cap it's a flippin nightmare. I'm somewhere stuck in the middle.

What I do know is that NOT ONE of my best scores of the last 4 years have come on home soil, and yet I've had some 6/7/8 overs (gross) on some hard courses with higher SSS.

6260 off the whites and 6055 off the yellows, we have blue comp tees too but i cant find what it is off those on our webby, i shall ask tomorrow though.

Although were playing off winter tees now and im guessing its playing well under 6000.....

Ours is 6,850 yds off the Blue tees, which we use for social rounds, medal rounds... any round.
It's 7,434 yds off the Black which are the proper competition tees and will be used whenever the European or Senior tour decides it fancies a visit.

5460 Par 67 Seems incredibly short compared to everyone elses on here. The fact that there is 6 Par 3's possibly accounts for the lack of yardage.

posting SS alongside yardage would be a better indicator, I've played very long courses but in warm dry countries where the ball travels further/bounces further etc or try a monster length links course in a dry summer and its a drive and mid iron for par 5's!
On the flip side in Scotland right now a full drive will either plug or come back a foot so all courses are playing long so a 6000yd sodden course can play just as hard as a 7200 dry links. All course are different.

Which reminds me of a dog leg par 3! yes thats right, I remember it at Glasgow Golf club, 2nd hole, massive big trees you have to go around, think it was about 230yds afaik so going over just put you long

yeah mine has 6 par 3's, its 2 loops of 9 but with seperate tee boxes making angle and distance changes. Also the 15th has a seperate green from the 6th adding about 100 yards and tree's

The greens are really quite small targets and narrow fairways aswell making it even more of a challenge especially in summer. Shame the bunkers are crap

Par 69 SSS is 68
