Which tees do you play away?

I've made the same reply to similar threads in the past . A few years ago, my son and I began making golf trips to Spain. I am not the longest hitter and my pro, at the time ,gave me some good advice. "play off the tees whose length come closest to our home course yellows of 6000 yards". I often end up playing off the blues or even the reds. My son hits a long ball but playing off different tees is no problem.

Experience is the key for my group so typically yellows or as mentioned 6500 and below in my typical group. If there a few days we’ll maybe mix it up a bit. I.e. forward tees for Texas pairs as it’s a slower format.

I do occasionally play with some very good players either side of scratch and they go as far back as I’m comfortable with. I don’t mind playing further back with them as it’s a pleasure to watch and they tend to bring the best out of my game.

Occasionally I’ll think it might be fun to play off the tips (7,100yds) just to see what I’d score and the different shots I’d face…

… but it occurs to me that I never seem to have that thought standing on the 1st tee, its invariably when I’m sitting in the office and nae chance of actually playing golf that day :p

there's one course I play that is long off its comp tees and its essentially driver, FW on most holes and still not close to the green in reg... its boring golf i.e doesn't matter where your drive goes as long as it hits fairway because I know its FW next shot which again doesn't really matter as long as it stays on short stuff because i'll usually still have a 3rd shot which is the one that actually counts.
Its basically pitch & putt golf 😄
