How hard do you swing?

I dont like the feeling of swinging 'Hard' it gives me a view of forcing the shot, overactive shoulders and arms so the swing becomes disjointed.

I aim to get a nice rhythm with my body rotation which would be around 80% of capacity. I have found that keeping tension out of my arms and wrists allow the club to accelerate well through impact so that nothing is heaving out of balance. One of the biggest killers of good ball striking is the big Heave-Ho of the shoulders and arms IMO.

Honestly, I have no idea. I certainly don't go all out but at a guess I'd say 75-80% with all clubs

I'm with you on this - I have actually little or no idea how much effort I could realistically put into a golf swing - at some point my effort would exceed my ability to actually hit the ball or stay on my feet and not be staggering about off balance. I DO know that I don't actually put a lot of effort into it - and the difference when I want to put a bit 'more' into it is minimal and actually more about hand speed than effort.

When I restarted playing after almost a four decade break, with a new set of clubs, I took my brand new, shiny driver to the range (just the driver) to see if I could smash every ball off the range.
After the first 50 or so balls I ignored the pain in my rib and assumed I could play through it. I hit a few more buckets.
To cut a long story short I was in agony the next day and out for 13 weeks.

So, to answer the original question - 75%, and every now and then I still feel a little reminder as a caution.

Depends on what type of car keys are in the pot!! :)

Grip it and rip it! and then go and find it .......

We all know that you hit the ball further by hitting it better. For some that might involve battering the puir wee blighter to bits - but never see the point in trying to do that as I invariably end up hitting it worse

Completely agree! But its so much fun when you catch one! :) I play better when I slow my swing down but get through the ball. Get a nice wide take away going with a good should turn and plenty of torque and that will actually increase your club head speed which is what distance all comes from. Booom!

I already know and agree with that...but after scoring so badly on Sunday (only 19 points), for my next round I am going to write the words KILL ME on my ball and then I plan to do that with every tee shot I hit.

I'm sure once it's out of my system normal service will resume...unless I score really well.

Anywhere between 80-100% depending on shot

One thing that has amazed me is seeing my 100% swing on video, after I stopped crying I was just left wondering why, with all that effort, it just looks like a lazy slow waft of the club :(
