How good looking is your...

Early in the round it can be a little short, until all the knots have been loosened. Best described as resembling an octypus putting on a sweater in a phone box. Seen it a couple of times, and its better than I expected - 4/10.

Shot shape - after many years of links golf it tends to be low and straight... well, straight most of the time but last weeks visit to Woburn suggested it has more twist and turns than a Swiss mountain road.

Pretty standard golf swing, most of the normal key points only lacking a bit of hip turn as I come into the ball (having a big of a gut to swing round doesnt help)
6/7 with regards to looks
I'm a pretty straight hitter but play a soft fade when I can't quite trust the swing. (I hardly ever hit it left with is a massive help)
Handicap as below.

Golf swing? Too long, too many moving parts and too flawed
In comparison to the way you shot is shaped? Depends on the day. Trying for more of a fade but still get the lefts on a regular basis
Lastly your handicap - the flaws and inability to control the path are why I'm nearly off 12 - that and a chronic short game

I've had compliments about my swing when I was off about 22 (unofficial). I've had compliments about my swing tempo, in the last year (when off 6), so go figure from a neutral point of view.

In my minds eye it is a thing of rare beauty, like a butterfly for a day, atop a newly opened orchid, in a fabled garden. Pity about the fat, ugly sod on the end of it though.

The best swing on here, that I've seen is Junior's (off 9). He's a big, ugly sod as well, with a face only a mother could love.:D

My tip - put on weight, hit your face at 105mph with a stiff shafted wok with a low kick-point, and you'll be fine.

no one would ever try to copy my swing. its flat as a pancake for both draw and fade swings but i manage to get it working both ways without much problem.

i prefer to draw irons as i hit that shot more consistently. when i try and cut it i sometimes don't cut it enough or lack the distance control.

i take big divots all the time after hearing a few years ago i must hit down on the ball. i play most of my irons from the middle of the stance therefore hit it early in the swing arc. i move it forward only to cut or hit a higher ball.

none of it is particularly pretty but i have a decent short game. since coming down from 18 ive rarely shot multiple rounds outside 30 points. i always scramble in and around that score no matter how badly i hack it. i have never liked losing in any sport, golf gives you the opportunity to hit back with the next hole. stableford does, goddam medals are a little more unforgiving. ;)

as far as having a perceived better looking swing than a decent score. not a chance. i used to play with a guy back home who had a finish like Fred couples. he never once played to his 18 handicap. he doesnt play anymore. says it all really.

liverbirdie wont mind me saying, as i've played with him all year (its been a long year ;) ) that he doesn't have the most picturesque swing. in saying that, he has one of the most repeatable swings in the gmforum business. he is very very rarely in trouble. he plays a very slight fade which he has down to a T. aim 5 yards left of target, boom. bang on line. every single time.

he has a short game to back it up.

birchy, another bud, ive met this year has come on leaps and bounds. 19 handicap at the start of the year, now shooting under his 12 handicap every time he tees it up. how? hes had some great lessons and worked very hard on his game. kudos bud! he makes it look so simple by hitting it so so straight. i was looking forward to seeing your swing at the oom final day but you got pushed out of the top table ;) i was dying to find your secret! keep up the good work lad! if you work on your chipping cat 1 awaits!

anyhow, im blabbering, that just two swings that ive seen do the business many times this year :) anyone thats seen them play will no doubt agree.

I've been told by a number of playing partners that I have nice swing, my pro even likes it.... unfortunately at the moment I don't always hit it where I want... hence my 19.7 handicap. ..... However my issues are around the green and not 'full' swings!!

Golf swing?

I'm interested because of a comment from someone in another thread who'd rather have a good swing than a good score. Seemed pods to me.

Who cares...
It's the consistency and score that are important to me.

I was a bit horrified when I saw mine on video a while ago, just like hearing your own voice on phone or tape. Certainly wouldn't describe it as 'athletic' but rhythm looked reasonable.

Aw, shucks, Gaz. Your right BTW, your swing is as flat as a fluke. Very effective though, which is what matters.

I'm not sure how mine would fare out of 10..... I suppose maybe 5 or 6.... But that's my opinion.... Somebody else might say 3 or 4.....

I don't really care how it looks once I have a consistent bottom of the arc..... Iv slipped back to 11.....

Thanks mate......I think ;) ;);)

Mine's got me down from 12 to 9 this year, but it's far from perfect....6/10 i'd say. I Suffer from being quite flat and around although I rarely try to swing to parrallel so I can control where the balls goes (most of the time.) However, whenever I try and swing up and around and try to get my hands on plane with my shouldersat the top, I start to feel my arms disconnect from my turn ,and I struggle to get it back down without relying on hand eye co-ordication.

I also sufffer from a cupped left wrist so can get a bit handsy every now and then and whip the ball left. That and i putt like an absolute prat at the best of times. Still a lot to work on this winter !!

Been told be a few playing partners and our pro that I have a good swing and generally speaking I hit the ball reasonably well. However, I make up for it with a horrific short game and total inability to putt.

I'd rather have a horrific swing and a good short game.

I'd like to think I have a good looking swing, my old pro used to say I swung it like a scratch golfer. I also play regularly enough with a couple of scratch golfers and there isn't much between us in terms of ball striking or ball flight.

When I was younger I used to love Sergio Garcia's swing & I tried to copy it, then I saw my swing on camera for the first time and it wasn't anywhere near. It was very flat, way too long & I swayed off the ball quite a lot so I invested in a bunch of lessons & now it's much much closer to where I want it to be & a hell of a lot prettier to watch. Unfortunately my short game & putting has gone the other way.

My pro laughs at my swing. Too short, too quick, stuck on back foot with a flip.

My swing is neither proper or pretty
