Golf swing?
In comparison to the way you shot is shaped?
Lastly your handicap?

I'm interested because of a comment from someone in another thread who'd rather have a good swing than a good score. Seemed pods to me.

For me I'd rate; Swing- 4/10 Ugly and short backswing
Shot shape- 6/10 Fade on a good day, mostly quite low
Handicap- Just gone up to 9.

I have a mate with a beautiful swing, great ball trajectory. Just can't get the ball round the course very well. Plays off 12.

I haven't asked, but I presume he'd swap scores...

Swing-in my head 8,in reality probably 4 at best
Shot Shape-high,slight left to right at minute.
Handicap- no official.

Looks: Probably a 5 at best if I'm being honest.

Shape: With irons, generally high'ish and straight, perhaps a dab of fade. Woods again high, but with a 5-10 yard fade that starts at the peak of the balls flight (... Flies straight until the top of it's flight, then falls to the right).

Handicap: 14.

Swing when started was a -10 out of 10

Now I would rate my swing as 5 or 6 out of 10, but slowly improving.

Shot shape left to right fade, occasionally arrow straight, working on being able to play a draw on demand.

Handicap officially 17

Absolutely no idea as in 40yrs of playing I have never seen my own swing when I'm hitting a ball. Seen it a couple of times in reflections and once in a very short video (of one swing of the club). Looked OK - but then I wasn't trying to hit a ball.

I was horrified to see how bad my swing was when a mate took a video of it on his phone so..... 1 for looks, hitting good distances and mainly in the direction im aiming tho .. so il take that for now

shot shape , guess i favour a draw with most clubs

Handicap 7

Mine is beautiful. Golf porn. I will post a video then draw some lines on it when I have a spare moment.

Don't know how it looks and don't really care, it feels comfortable with a right to left draw bias, sometimes a bit more than I'd like and sometimes plum straight.

Probably isn't right (or proper) and could be picked to pieces by the purists but it gets me off the tee the majority of time without getting into to much trouble. Working on ball striking currently down the range (grass) so working on a shorter back swing and taking a divot which I've never done before. Good work in progress.

Not for me to score myself and wouldn't care what score I was attributed, where the ball goes and finishes is more important to me than how I look.

What do you play off if you don't mind me asking?

Swing Looks 6 / 10, i tend to grip the club along the palm of my left hand rather than the fingers and therefore do not get the wrist cock or classic position you see the best players getting at the top of the swing.

Shot shape (when alls well) soft draw.

H'cap 1.8

I'll be the first to admit my swing isn't what you would call classic but i've good timing and can get the ball around whether i'm playing well or not. I'm 40 years old and have dropped from 3.6 to 1.8 this season - i'll take my swing as it is thankyou very much, rather than mess my game up by tryng to make my swing look pretty.

Remember one guy i met at my club, beautiful swing, when he joined me for a few holes the first time i met him i honestly thought he was a pro when i saw his practice swings. Unfortunately for him he couldn't hit a Cow on the arse with a shovel and was a truly shocking golfer. Last time i witnessed him on the course he hit a shank with a 3 wood - lovely swing all the same!!

I'll take consistant decent scores to a nice looking swing any day.;)

19, far too high for how I play in most sweeps and bounce games but its the old "card in the hand" syndrome being my nemesis :(

Just curious with you saying you dont take a divot. Do you feel you strike it better when you do take one?

I've been working on a 3/4 swing and a more committed strike taking a divot by getting right through the ball as I had a tendency to over swing and lose the club head (irons), I think like many new to the game we tend to try to pick the ball off rather than attack it, if you know what I mean. Anyway, in answer to your question, when down the range my dispersion and yardage was more consistent taking a divot than not doing. I think this is down to without taking the divot you may slap it, fat it, flush it or hit it heavy, if you take a divot I am finding there is more consistency. I'm yet to put it fully into practice in a match round yet but may well do this Saturday in my last medal.

Couldnt really give a shiny how my swing looks, its all about getting the ball in the hole.

Theres no points for artistic merit in golf.

I think you practice your swing by throwing dustbins over your shoulder in those green trousers ;)
