Mike, Playgolf Manchester (same as the one @ Northwick park i think)is really good, decent balls and they also have heaters. Balls are expensive unless join as a silver / gold member.
There was an great offer running before christmas (not sure if it sill going) for 3 lessons and £100 of ball credit for £100.
MikeH, what do you feel about a section of magazine one month covering practise routines of the pro`s? Covering their warm up routines, practise and maybe a cool down?
At the moment ive been working on technical swing changes , so when i go to the range i just take a 6 iron to practice the changes. i will get a 100 balls warmup/stretch hit half of them. try and finish on a couple of good ones. then go to the practice green and hit a variety of wedge shots from chip n runs to 30yrd lobs pick my balls up do that 3 times then finish the buck off with my 6iron! I should fit putting into this routine but this is how its been. when im confident with my swing or im going to play a round . iwill take the bag and work through in no particular order as long as i change the clubs about and targets! If im swinging really well i'll try shaping shots and hitting some low punches etc!
Depends what I'm working on. At the moment my practice is split between maintaining my swing (found out today my head posture had sunk - old fault - which meant my posture had also slumped forward a tad). Couldn't figure out why I wasn't hitting very well until my sweet kind hearted wife came to pick me up and saw me hit the last few balls.
As soon as I stood over the ball and lifted my head back up it felt soooooooo much better and I had all the room in the world to make my turn.
I am also trying to master the 3 wedge system a la Dave Pelz. I am fine on 9 o'clock swings with my wedges (LW, SW and PW) and on an easy 10.30 swing but still can't master his 7.30 small swing (best I can do is a consistent 8 o'clock)
I am also working on my chipping. Have developed a habit of breaking my wrists so have started hitting skulls and fat shots. I know I am doing it but can't seem to stop myself. Its the wrist on my right hand (I'm right handed) that seems to collapse the most and is governing the shot. Oh well - got a short game lesson booked for next week so I should get a fix
I'm ashamed to say I don't practice. I just love playing.
If I've got a spare hour, I'd rather play half a dozen holes than go to the range or practice area. The only reason I go to the range is to take my two sons. And then I just thrash my driver a bit.
This is my secret shame.
Start by swinging 3 clubs 5 times then get 1 club swing upside down 20 times then hit 5 shots repeat 5 times, this is a great loosener and also builds up your ball speed.
