How do you get two good nines in the same round?

One shot at a time, one hole at a time, add em up at the end.

Spot on ..or to put it another way .......stay in the now.

Expectation and disappointment are your enemies.
Do not look ahead or remember behind. One is gone the other depends on your mind set.

Might also be worth while looking at the number of times do you bogey your easiest hole and birdie the hardest

Golf isn't 2 x 9s or 3 x 6s or even 1 x 18, it is just a series of shots. Every so often you will hit lots of good shots in the same round and it will combine with a bit of luck and you will shoot a good score.

Yesterday I was 2 over for the front nine and 10 over for the back nine. Today I was 9 over for the front nine and 4 over for the back nine. So potentially I could go round in 6 over, but I have only ever done that 3 times in many years of playing golf! :(

Practice more.

Take it one shot at a time and don't get ahead of yourself. Then more importantly just relax and take it as it comes, stop pushing and the scores will come.

Get better at golf?

There is the answer

The Op has his HC for a reason - it's the measure of his ability as a golfer over 18 holes not two 9's on different days

If the OP wants two good nines together the answer is simple - be better at golf

By playing each hole one at a time. Playing sensible golf and learning how to scramble. It's all in the head. You have a good front 9 and one of 3 things happen.
1) you go defensive and try to protect your score...........wrong move.
2) you get pumped up and carried away that you are having your best ever round and start going for things you don't normally do.......wrong again
3) just keep playing like you have for the first 9. Do not get annoyed if you screw a hole up, just start again on the next. Play your normal game and if you normally hit driver on a hole then hit your driver, don't change to a fairway for safety as that is not your normal game. Likewise if you would normally hit a rescue, don't change to a driver chasing the birdie.
