Hi guys

Well how did your round go this weekend?

I play off 15 and managed a decidedly average 33 points which included 1 blank.

I drove well and hit a lot of good irons but putted awful. The greens were like lightening and after running a few feet past on the 1st and 2nd, I developed a fear of hitting my putts with conviction and left every single putt over 5ft woefully short, also not helped by missing 3 putts under 2 feet.

Roll on next weekend when I will probably putt like Tiger and drive like a goose.

Golf! dont you just love the uncertaintity.

I shot 3 under 69. It could of been better, I missed a few shortish putt's. I only birdied 1 of the 4 par 5's and was 1 over for the par 3's. I'm now cut to 1.9 lowest ever for me. roll on next weekend I'm going to salou.

Played in a 3 man scramble on Saturday and a bounce game yesterday.

Driving was poor, irons and short game good, putting not great, hardly holed anything!!

Played in a representative match this weekend and my partner and I won 3 & 2. So not bad!!

What was great though, was that I played for the first time with my new clubs (MX-25s), and I loved them. I was previously having problems with my 3/4 irons, but played really solid hitting 3 greens from over 200 yrds today with my 4 iron.

Putted quite well too and now feel that I can now stride on and make inroads into my handicap.

Roll on next week for the monthly stableford!

Be careful! It's when you think like this that golf has a tendency to jump up and bite you on the nether regions.

Played fine until the wind blew - buffer on Saturday, up 0.1 yesterday.

Will be visiting the range this week to address my "power fade" which I'm now accepting is more and more a slice.

tpred, I thought our course had exclusivity to ar5eho1e greenkeepers. Our 'landscape gardener' did ours on Thursday ... 2 days before a member and guest day. I was livid as I had been bragging all about how 'my' course was looking.

P.S. Didn't fair to well ... best ball=70
BUT ... I was 1 under for last 6 holes.

i play off 15 and did a nett 75 in our monthly medal, played with my new mp60s for only the second time, after buying them the day before, so had no chance to get used to them. Wasn't helped by being drawn with two DUFFERS who shouldn't have been allowed on the course, they shot 140 and 156!

HI,madandra we couldnt believe it when they had done it,they tined it last monday and left it undressed till thursday they then top dressed them but we had a load of rain so it washed the dressing away leaving holes all over the greens completly ruining everyones golf for the weekend. The juniors had their 2nd day of club champs on saturday and there were 3 other comps as well,it just made your game a lottery when your ball hit the green you didnt know how it was going to react and as for the putting il leave that to your imagination.I am in final of the secretaries trophy next week and i hope they settle a bit as this is a year long comp and my partner and i have played well to get to the final. If we lose through bad golf etc or good golf on our opponents behalf then fair play, but when it could be decided on crap green keeping and ignorance then that really is annoying.I apolgise for whingeing but it does make my blood boil.

I dont blame you madandra,a lot of questions have been asked at our course but i dont suppose anything will be done because its a municipal & the members dont get much of a say.Its a council run course but there is also a club attatched, it would be nice to be able to have a say cos the green keeping staff would be the 1st to go.

Is it the time of year or something? maybe they are trying to prepare the greens for winter ???? Our greenkeeper did it as well, they put samd on the greens to smooth out the holes.

Does "greenkeeper" still read the forum perhaps he can answer why it happened.

I'll be writing as well, I dont pay my £££ to put on sand!

its a job that has to be done which we all understand,it improves the greens for later, its just the time they pick to do it,we have a finals day coming up next week and it ruined the last weekend.
The thing is with the greenkeepers at our course is they dont seem to give a damn what the course is like

To answer the original question.... I didn't play. Am a five day member. Gonna upgrade to full membership in April. Miss the Saturday medals. Play maybe 5/6 Wednesday medals per year. End up playing at friends courses on weekends. Find them a lot easier ...because you don't know where the trouble is! Makes sense.
