I know how did I do is industry standard for most clubs but what alternatives are there out there?

What other systems do some clubs use? Surely it makes sense to be able to check all players handicaps on one system?

Your club should have issued you with a SGU card , that has your own personal number. If you register on the Scottish Golf Union site , you can access all your own scores and your up to date handicap.
But clubs do use different systems and you can't get access to them , and they are not linked. It can take ages before results are published and scores get back to your home club.

Our club used to use How Did I Do, but changed to Master Scoreboard at the beginning of the year. At first I didn't like the new website, but have warmed to it as it allows more info to be posted. The only drawback I have found is you can't print your handicap cert as you can with HDID.

You can screen print on your phone though.....

Intelligent Golf - that's who we are moving too over the next couple of months

Actually, they are linked here in England. All club systems link to the CDH (Central Database of Handicaps) that is held by England Golf. By your comments, I assume the SGU have something similar.

The delay in results reaching your home club is usually due to human factors. The person responsible at the away club needs to close the competition which may not be done in a timely manner. The closing of the competition automatically pushes the results and handicap changes to the CDH. Once the CDH has been notified, the results/handicap changes are immediately available to the home club. This is where the next potential delay occurs, the person responsible for competitions and/or handicaps at your home club needs to accept the away score. Depending on the system used by your club and the responsible person, it may take a few weeks - not all systems make it obvious that there are away scores available for processing, Club Systems (howdidido) used to automatically check whenever the system was started, but Intelligentgolf does not.

I can only access my own H/C playing history on the SGU page , not scores taken on individual holes. I don't think you can see results from other clubs open comps or access other clubs h/c lists. But you can access all that info and more on HDID.COM. if the club uses that system.

You might, but I can't.

I take it that the reason why you cant screen print is because you cant actually see your handicap certificate online?

The facility to print handicap certificates from MasterScoreboard does exist, but your Club's person who administers the Masterscoreboard site (there are various options that can be configured) needs to configure it to allow players to do this.

I've just checked on our system and if I remove a certain field in the settings, then not only does it remove your ability to print your handicap certificate it prevents you from viewing it.

Possibly your club does not want players to print their own certificates? I would check with them and see if they can set it up so you can print your own.

Club 2000/HDID and all other systems (HandicapMaster/MasterScoreboard and IntelligentGolf being the main ones) are commercial systems competing for the same customers - Golf Clubs!

There is NO INCENTIVE for any of them to connect with 'competing' systems!

In terms of interconnecting, away scores etc they are all only as good as the people who operate them.

We use HandicapMaster and have found it a big improvement (in terms of VFM and functionality) on Club Systems. Have heard good reports about IntelligentGolf too but never used it.

My club uses Intelligent Golf and I really like it.
Does a lot more than just results and handicap. You can look at scoring trends etc.
We use it for paying for comps, function dinners and bar drinks etc. Can top up bar credit online
Men can enter comps online and women starting the same next month.

Just for clarity on this Billy

On the SGU site which is linked to your CDH number you can access all your comp history whether home or away, any handicap adjustments etc but you cannot see indiviual hole cores for the rounds.

On HDID your log in will allow you to view any clubs comp results but your stats will only show records from your home club.

Your true handicap is viewed on the SGU site, thats linked to the CDH.

IMO, anyone with their handicap held at a Scottish club should register on the SGU website.

I don't understand what is meant by "screen print" I thought that was a way of printing on silk.

I use the SGU site, but it's only basic info.

My club uses HDID so I can check the results/stats in away comps, including the hole by hole scores of FCs, as long as the club is HDID registered.
I can also check the h/cs of all affiliated club members, see their clubs fixture lists, SSS, CSS and VCSS . I also receive email notification of my tee times.

I played an away open last Tuesday and the result is still not published , i had to phone to get the stats, because they use a system i'm not allowed to access.:(

We use Masters Scoreboard our my home club and we have to get the secretary to email us our handicap cert if needed. Most clubs should really be accepting your CDH number as this will be the most up to date info and I always state this on entry forms, rather than sending off a handicap cert.
