Following on from Bob's thread about how you would play your pitch shots, and from other posts I've read in the past about lying up to favourite distances.

How close do you normally/on average get to the pin from, say, 100 yards out?

No idea in terms of yardages but from 100 yards I'd be disappointed not to be left with a realistically makeable put or comfortable 2 put at the very worst.

I would hope to be inside 25/30 foot so a chance of a putt but a steady 2 putt.

Get frustrated when I do miss the putting surface from this distance, i should have no excuses really not leave a makeable putt.

I give myself birdie chances alot, but more often than not don't convert them. I'd say anthing inside 10ft would be nice. Inside 5-6ft I'd be hoping to hole out but aiming for a tap in 2 putt.

on the green really. whether thats a tap in left, or a 40ft putt. on the green for me. i would rather putt from 40ft, than have to chip from 10ft... (says a lot about my short game i know!)

If I'm on the green I'm relieved (as I'll be putting); if I'm in the middle of the green no matter where the flag is I'm pleased (as I'll have an OK birdie putt); if I'm within 6ft I'm delighted (as I'm confident I won't three putt).

I'm upset if I miss the green, then it's a sliding scale of happiness depending how close to the hole I ended up. Anything leaving a reasonably makeable birdie putt has me smiling on the walk up.

1st post, so hello everyone.

Thanks. Only just moved to the area after being London based, just joined at Filton GC. Not played any competitions up there yet but met a few friendly members just turning up and joining up with people on the 1st tee. Nice little course and very handy for where I live (Bishopston).
