Stupid choice of manager in the first instance if you ask me.

MO'N must be in the frame, don't particularly like the man but he has a dam fine track record.

EH? Where? Speaking as a bit of a Celtic fan he was worse than useless when his luck ran out, as well as signing fannies on long over paid contrtacts then shagging off.

What he said, along with Wenger he is an over rated gaffer and his football is dire to watch.....at least Wenger has actually won something of note,a long time ago granted. :p

Typical deluded Celtic fans with selective memories!

No selective mamories here, all he does is build a team of frickin giants and lump the ball to them hardly inspiring football, then when the other teams find a way to get around that he doesnt seem to have the ability to change so just leaves

Liverpool losing to Wolves, at Anfield tonight!!! Do we think this will spell the end of Roy?

Unlikely. Liverpool always throw in some dodgy results, that's why they can't get close to the title.
Do I think he's right? No.
Liverpool's problems go deeper than the manager.

Spot on Chris...I gave up my season book the season before he shat it and ran before he was really found out....tear gas to watch.

Big hairy arsed centre backs that can't pass but can kick the ball high and long, plodder midfielders and big hairy arsed centre forwards and the odd winger with a bit of pace...........there you have Martin O'N's identikit team.

You don't have to be good to win up here,Rangers can vouch for that too.

Liverpool's squad is rubbish!!! They only have two real Premiership players who could play in a top four team - Gerrard and Torres. If one or both of them have an off day then Liverpool are a very mediocre Premiership team at best.
Ngog, Babel, Lucas, I could go on but most of the Liverpool squad would struggle to get in the Wigan first team, let alone a top four/CL team.
RH had his work cut out from the start, the fans need to get behind him, ride out this rough patch, sell the rubbish and then get some decent players.
It'll take time though...

Rubbish. Hodgson needs to go.

Could the squad be a lot better? Yes.

But there is easily enough quality in the team to be, at the least, up in the top six. Gerrard and Torres would walk into pretty much any side. Reina is probably the best keeper in the country. Meireles is looking a good buy. Kuyt is quality. Johnson, Agger, Skrtel, Maxi are all decent players. Even Lucas is looking a much better player than before.

The problem is Hodgson. He cannot get the team playing and makes utterly bizarre selections and deploys odd tactics.

Like many Liverpool fans, I was unconvinced by his appointment. His record does not stand up to that required to take the club forward and he has demonstrated that he is not up to the job.

There is enough material at the club to deliver much better results but Hodgson is not the man to do so.

"Kuyt is quality. Johnson, Agger, Skrtel, Maxi are all decent players."

Really??? Kuyt runs around a lot but where's his end product??? A good player - yes but not a top PL/CL player.

Johnson - Glen Johnson??? Please!!! I could defend better than him and I'm rubbish. Far too often he lets the attacker onto the attacker's preferred foot and far too often he thinks his pace will bail him out. He's normally wrong.

Maxi. WAS a good player. Now he's just going through the motions.

I stand by my comment - too many mediocre players in the Liverpool squad. One major worry is that Gerrard is now the wrong side of 30. He's on the decline now just when Liverpool need him most.

Where are all the kids that Liverpool usually churn out??? I was hearing great things about the youth squad not three years ago and certain wonderkids in the academy. Have they failed to live up to expectation???

i agree with the comment that theres too many mediocre players at the club, or less mediocre and more dont give a [****], ryan babel being the case in point, looks a world beater on paper - pace to burn, a decent shot etc, but in reality can just about put one foot in front of the other.

As for the kids, theres one or two on the fringes, shelvey being the best, the lad looks class on the ball, can pick out a pass, and pacheco whos an attacking midfielder who was top scorer at the u19 world cup. then theres the likes of danny wilson who the scots on herewill know, and martin kelly whos played in europe and looks solid. but the thing is, now is not the time to blood youngsters, they need to play in a team with confidence not one with its confidence shot to pieces.

whilst i feel sorry for roy now, hes basically a victim of the failings of previous managers in the transfer market, i cant get away from the fact that hes not a liverpool manager, he too negative in press conferences, and appears too scared to mix it with the big boys. tactically, he sets a team out to not lose rather than to win, what he was playing at in midfield last night ill never know. one thing ill say for benitez was that tactically he was brilliant,in europe especially

I did mention this earlier, but Liverpool have three quality players, but the rest of their team would struggle to get into at top 10 premier league team. Put it another way take away Gerrard Torres and Reina, and i think they would be certainties to go down to the Championship. The most average Liverpool team i have seen in over 30 years.

every manager since kenny has replaced good players with a poorer quality player, with a few exceptions, which has left us in this situation.

The new owners have brought in damien commolli who'll have a big say in recruitment, whether roy will be given an input is anyones guess but ramos bombed commolli at spurs for basically forcing players on him. I reckon part of the appeal on taking on roy was that he isnt likely to cause friction between himself and the board like rafa, and will take what hes given. The mandate of the new owners is young players with a sell on value, roy brought in konckesky and poulsen for stupid money with little chance of recouping it on account of their age.

I'd certainly agree that the squad has too many mediocre players but you said the squad was rubbish which simply isn't true.

Kuyt can be deceptive. He does not score as many as you'd like but actually gives a surprisingly high number of assists. His lack of goals is certainly in part down to the fact that he plays down the right wing. He has been a proven performer in the Premier League, Champions League and reached a World Cup Final so can't be that bad.

Johnson? Clearly not the best defender around but offers a lot going forward. If you're playing Johnson, you need to have strong cover in front of him and inside him.

His strengths and weaknesses are there for all to see and the manager has a choice. Set your team up to allow for them or watch him get isolated and exposed.

You obviously haven't watched Liverpool much if you think Maxi's been going through the motions these days. One of our best players this season.

The point is that there is ability in the squad and we should be much higher up the table with what we've got. No-one's living in the past, we all know the squad is not good enough to challenge for the title and have no expectations in that regard. What we want to see is progress.

To be fair, Hodgson did not have the best start at Anfield. His arrival was overshadowed by the fiasco with Hicks & Gillett and that hampered him in the transfer window. Since then however, he has not shown that he has what it takes to move the club forward at all nor that he is a good judge of talent.

His record is an average one and he has not convinced so far that he is the right man to take the club forward. It isn't really that the fans are turning on him and not giving him a chance or being unreasonably impatient. Not many wanted him in the first place. His arrived certainly wasn't greeted with any real enthusiasm. No-one really disliked him as he's always had quite a good press image but his latest outburst was spectacularly ill-judged and his apology a poor one.

I would be amazed if he is still there after the summer and not surprised if he is gone before the end of January.

GOT TO GO tonight no feckin excuses.

Nice bloke, manager of the year last season, 35yrs coaching experience and he can't even beat a reserve blackburn team who have 10 1st choice players missing through injury etc.

Not good enough, he knew at the start of the season he had to improve on a poor last season and he fancied himself to get the best out of a liverpool side who finished 7th last year.

I will gaurentee we wont finish in the top 10 with this clown in charge.

a change is needed, someone who will get the best out of whast is there and make us a team again, not a few players with the responsibility of carrying the rest (as the media says it is)

technically the players are good enough, the main problem is no one believes that the team is good enough... fingers crossed but not holding much hope at the moment :(

Would not be surprised if January saw the end of Hodgson, Grant, Houllier and Ancelotti.

Wonder what odds I could get on that.
