HELP PLEASE! Casting/ Coming over the top

Any simple exercises to enable me to come down and through the ball please. I am aware of a full shoulder turn but whatever I try does not seem to work which means I have an out to in swing which loses distance.

Many thanks for any help.

Try and keep your right elbow close to your body on the way down, ideally your right arm should be slightly bent at impact,

Have a look at Henrik Stenson's position at impact in this/last months of Golf Monthly

Think about hitting the ball at about 8 O'Clock during your swing.

So, if 12 O'Clock is where you ball is facing your target, 6 O'Clock is obviously directly opposite.

You get the picture ?

This will help you come more in to out.

Are you starting your downswing with your shoulders rather than your hips?

I used to do this a lot resulting in a big slice I was told to try starting my downswing with my hips turning towards the target rather than trying to hit from the top.

Practise by putting a glove or towel under your right armpit and keeping it there during the swing.

Make sure you have enough flex in your address position so that it creates the right resistance and stops you swinging too far and reverse pivotting

I have always casted, and tbh, it isn't a huge problem really. You can still hit a reasonable ball, and play to a half decent handicap with this swing fault. Yeah, if you didn't do it, you could maybe hit longer, but as long as it is consistent, so what.

Re: HELP PLEASE! Casting/ Coming over the top

Thanks for the help. really appreciated. I have booked 6 lessons with a pro. I know I am casting because I have seen it on video and people tell me. Being in my late 50's it is never going to be perfect but the tips have helped.

Cheers
