I am running a golf competition in the summer for 60 golfers playing a 36 hole stroke play event. It will be a qualifying competition with handicaps ranging from scratch to 18.I am wanting to access/use computer software that will allow me through CDH numbers to score and display the event. Ideally, I would also like to reflect any handicap alterations from the morning round to the afternoon handicap.Does anyone know of a programme I could use?I want to input the scores into the laptop and use this to calculate the winners and have the results displayed for the evening presentation. I know this is a big ask, but can anyone assist or point me in the right direction?

Don't know about software, but think that the handicaps should be staying the same for both rounds if it's a 36 hole event. They only get altered based on each round after the full event has been finished.

Is this an Open competition run by your club or a qualifier authorised by EnglandGolf?

If the former, what handicapping software does your club use?

Re Duckster's post - as far as I am aware, it is only a recommendation that handicaps are not changed between rounds of a 36 hole competition. It is up to the organising committee to make that decision.

jchubs (my step brother) who is a forum member and runs Golf Days UK have a live scoring system called GD Score which is similar to the other one recommended above with the handsets for each group with handicaps input, live leaderboard on course and can be displayed in the clubhouse on a TV and also web link for anyone wanting to access it who isn't present.

http://www.golfdaysuk.co.uk/gdscore-2

Can contact him at info@golfdaysuk.co.uk and see what they can do for you and I'll point him in the direction of this thread as well.

DISCLAIMER - I have mentioned above that my stepbrother owns/runs the company I've mentioned but thought I should do it again here just to make it clear that my position is not totally impartial.

EDIT - Also just discovered there is a You Tube video showing what they do........

HandicapMaster used to allows 'Societies' free use.

Not sure whether it still does and what restrictions there are (CDH likely to be an issue), but worth checking out.

I think Handicapmaster still do a 45-day free trial for both club and society versions, but I'm sure that use of the club version will depend on authorised qualifier status.

I recommend Handicapmaster, you can have the live leaderboard showing in the clubhouse and as already been mentioned you can set the 36 hole comps so that the handicap is adjusted after 18 holes. Its an option you choose within HM.

Its not expensive around £35 , so if you ask for a 50p contribution of everybody you can easily cover the cost, and have it for the rest of the year.

Used vpar in a charity day, live scores on your iPhones as you play, down the app it was excellent! Vpar lads also came to the golf course and set up live leaderboards in club house etc

I'm a little puzzled by your description of the event.

If this is your home course, why wouldn't you be using the club's handicapping software to run it as a qualifier?

If it isn't your home course, you would have to be on the EnglandGolf list of organisations authorised to run qualifiers. If you're not on that list, you won't be able to interface with CDH.
