When playing this morning my PP hit an iron approach shot when the head of his club fell off.

He said thats the second one to go in as many months.

Cleveland irons about 3 years old, not good.

My brother had two fall off his Ping irons last year, don't think the cold weather helps, especially if clubs have been stored in the car or a cold garage etc.

nothing to do with the cold. the glue can take it. alot of manufacturers use fast setting glue and this doesn't give quite the same hold as long setting glue. my friend who builds clubs uses 5 minute epoxy when he has to and said the secret is in how much glass beads you use. very difficult to get right when on a production line.

A friend of mine had the same problem with his Clevelands (588`s I believe). Four of his fell off in a matter of a few weeks. Changed to another brand now.

I had the head of a driver fly off into the biggest gorse bush on the course... Was glued on by a forum member with flour a water paste;)

The shaft fractured I believe, it's not like the shaft came cleanly away as if the glue failed.

He suggested it could be some rust from within the shaft. I will try to find out a bit more info.

this makes things different. i had a set a ap-1 irons and within a week 2 of them broke at the point they go into the head. the inside of the shaft was rusty. titlest said it was because i had most likely put a tee peg in the end of the grip, puncturing the grip tape thus allowing water into the shaft!!!!!!!!!!! two weeks old!!!!! can you believe that?

that was 4 years ago and the reason why not one thing in my bag is titleist
