Got no problem with others using them, but they're not for me (other than woods/hybrids/putters).

My clubs are always clean. I get stick for how shiny they are (and the new ones will be even worse for that!) but I don't see the need to try to prevent them knocking together when I'm fully prepared to drive them into the ground at 80mph.

If bag chatter/scratches etc affected their playability or how long they lasted then I'd reconsider, but it doesn't, so I won't.

Give the head a little squirt with WD40 or similar. Leave it for a while then use a toothbrush to remove the rust. If the rust is too deep for the toothbrush to remove it try a fine wire brush. After your finished just wipe the head down with a tiny drop of oil or WD40 again.
Thanks will try that.

Im new to the game and would never think headcovers is more dmg than help (well it could it seems) - you learn on your mistakes I guess :)

But you wouldnt put your car in the way of getting dents, ie if you knew a guy in work threw his car door open each morning, would you park beside him?

you do everyday when you drive it and stones fly up, you have to use your car and dinks happen, these covers only stop tiny dinks on soft forged clubs but that adds appeal imo.

A Brand new Louis the fourteenth regency table looks wrong compared to the one that has history steeped throughout its grains with normal use.

Some people use bonnet bras to prevent stone chips, I dont but I amso dont tailgate cars in front of me. Then again we are talking about some of the damage which is avoidable plus when carrying past other golfers playing it makes you silent too and less likely to disturb anyone.
Antiques may be different.

I just stand still :D

In all seriousness through I do stop if someone near is playing a shot as I know how off putting it can be when I see something out of the corner of my eye moving at address.

I would defiantly get headcovers, i cant stand the noise without them on. But when playing in the rain, you will need to take the off, because your heads will rust, trust me, my miura's are not as shinny as they once were.

Your heads will not rust during the duration of a round of golf.

Here's what leaving wet clubs with covers on does to my Miura wedges & CB-501 irons. My wedges are 6 months old, and i play 5-6 days a week. My irons are 2 months old, and one of them have a little rust stop already. At the end of the day, these clubs are to be used, if i hit a stone, so be it. lol I only use these covers, because i cant stand the noise. :)SN201107.jpgSN201105.jpgSN201106.jpgSN201108.jpgSN201110.jpg

Right.

On the subject of clatter. Here are some pictures of my MP32's. I've taken pictures of the 6,7 and 8 iron as these probably see theist use.

*** Please note these are second hand and have, as far as I know, never had head covers.**

As you can see there is very little damage to the rear of the heads with the majority of the wear on the soles, as you'd expect from general play.

Like I said I have no issue with people using them. I personally, just don't see the point.

My TP's are in good nick. As I use my wedges which dont have headcovers for bunkers shots there are no dinges or marks. If I was buying 2nd hand I doubt I'd bother but if I was shelling out £'s on new I'd want them to be as pristine for as long as possible
