Having trouble with your driver?

I don't understand the pictures Bob, what is it you are trying to point out?

Without an explaination the post is misleading at best.

From what I can see all the players have slid their lower bodies (hips) towards the target which leaves the trailing leg very much 'at an angle', not one person is standing over a 'vertical' trtailing right leg'.

They all leave their head where it was at address to incur some secondary tilt away from the target but that's a product of the hips moving forward, not the head moving back.

They all appear to have their left hip in FRONT of where the ball was tee'd up and a moment after these pics were taken they will all post up on the left leg....

Is THAT what you were trying to say? because some might think you were advocating to 'hang back' on your driver?? ;)

I've been working on this since you pointed it out to me - i'm certainly more consistent with my irons, haven't worked upto the woods yet (still working on the hip rotation ;) )

Their torsos are behind the ball at impact not ahead of it.

Bob can you tell me if narrowing my stance to turn better would be a bad thing...I find that if i take a shoulder width or slightly wider stance then i cant turn properly and find that i start hooking everything....

If i narrow my stance and stand a little taller then i get a far better turn and hardly any hooks at all.

It will be easier to sway with a wide stance. Keeping the stance a bit narrower will encourage a better turn as long as it doesn't get too narrow.

Cheers Bob.....I find that if i get a bit too wide with it then i seem to bend over more and i think then that my feet are too grounded at impact....
Once im conscious of it now at least i can monitor it a know whats happening.

Ive tried to address my Driving a little more and stop myself from staying back. On the evidence shown I might just concentrate on my swing and not worry about it.

Staying behind the ball is good - BUT - you don't wan't to sway back onto your right leg as you hit.

In all of the pics posted their weight will mostly be on the left leg.

Westwood's photo looks a little odd to me, almost like a cricket shot with his elbow sticking out a bit. Does he do that all the time?

Bob following my PM to you I had a driver fitting this afternoon and one fault which has crept into my swing unbeknown to me was when I drop my right shoulder at address I'm twisting it in towards the ball which leaves me slightly open giving an out to in swing path. Correcting the problem was relatively simple and it also helps me to keep my head behind the ball. It does feel a bit strange but has give me something to work with.

I'll post about the fitting on another topic however I'd like to thank you for your help.
