Have you ever hit a 1-Iron?

I still possess a Mizuno T-Zoid 1-iron. I used it for tight tee-shots. Great club from off the peg but I rarely bladed it from the turf.

Maybe I will put it back into my "travel bag" because I noticed that the shaft of my 2-iron isn't straight anymore and the grip is totally greasy

My little boy hits a cracking 2 iron and he's only 2 and a half. I got him an old cut down titleist dtr 2 iron off ebay for 99p, he was swinging it about all over the place to begin with but he hits it nicely everytime now. He's left handed aswell so hopefully a little Mickleson in the making.

Just after i joined JOG in 1986 i began to struggle with my woods. I brought a Wilson Staff Fluid Feel 1 iron. It was a blade with a head alot smaller than todays modern clubs. I started to hit it really well, off the tees and fairways and it became one of my most reliable clubs. I had it in my bag for years, even when my woods were behaving themselves. It was an great club to hit, when you got it out of the sweet spot, the sound, the feeling! Awesome!
I still have it in the shed and when i look at it now i just think jesus , i used to rip that! Don`t think i could do it now.

I had a HUGE Tommy Armour ti 1 iron which anyone could hit.

The face was bigger than my current PW.

Amazing piece of kit.....I lent it to someone and never saw it again. Maybe he liked it???

The mid irons must have been MASSSSIIIVVVVE.

yeah, when i was between the ages of 12-16 we used to play every day of the school holidays at a wee local 9 hole municipal called auchenharvie, I bought a set of maxfli australian blades off the assistant pro and it had a 1 iron and then 3-pw, i didnt own a driver so used to hit the 1 iron off the tee. p.s different story for a different time, but we used to buy a season ticket for £20...those were the days!!!

they were a great set of clubs and i have played with blades most of my life, I have actually just ordered a set of Taylormade tp mb smoked irons...although no 1 iron this time!!!!! bit to old now..haha.

I have Hogan Apex Blade 1 & 2 irons...they look like butter knives.

I use them on the range now and again but don't have them in my bag very often.

The 1-iron is great when I get it right, but I get it wrong more...and that's off the tee, no chance off the deck.

I have a 7-wood that I hit 220 and it's much more forgiving so I use that.

It's good fun to watch people try and hit them though...awesome when they do...funny when they don't

as for Tommy Armour. Between 1997 and 2001 I played a set of 855s Silver Scot. This set offered a 0-iron as well !!!
Just imagine an iron with 12° loft.
I possessed only 2 to PW though
