There is some right rubbish on this thread, written by people who are either too young or blinkered to know better.
Lyle's 7 iron from that trap was amazing. So was Christy O'Connor Junior's 2 iron at the Belfry. Langer chipping out of a tree was great and very memorable. Seve's Swiss masterclass from the trees was unforgettable. Seve's sand iron from the car park on his way to winning the Open at 19 years of age is another really obvious candidate and one I remember like it was yesterday - very vivid. Ditto Larry Mize's chip.
If anyone asked me to name the most memorable shot in golf though, it would not be one that happened in my lifetime as it was in 1935 at the Masters. Gene Sarazen's legendary 4 wood for an albatross to shoot up to joint leader with just four holes to play. This took him into a playoff which he then duly won. Quite amazing and no wonder it was labelled "The Shot Heard 'Round The World."
If you think Woods chip is the most memorable shot in golf then you should possibly get to know the history of the game a little better and then you might have a more valid opinion. That chip was dramatic but I only remembered it at all when I read other people's memories
Hold on Dave, the OP seems to be asking about the most memorable shot you have seen at the Masters in your life time. Not even Chrisd can remember Sarazen's albatross. I do remember his hole in one at the Open at the postage stamp though.
Shots don't have to be the most difficult though to be memorable. I watched Lyle collapse on the back nine on the Sunday, dunch one one in the water at 12, look out of it, late birdie on 16, and yes he played a great bunker shot on 18. To me though the most memorable part was his putt on 18, the dad jig afterwards, and the great joy I felt that he had won. I was shattered afterwards just watching.
