Hey guys, I play off 15 in comps. When I play a bounce game or a practice game I can easily play to 10..reason, no pressure to score. How much better are you without a comp card in your hand?

I would say I am actually better with a card in my pocket. All my best scores have come in comps/medals.

I guess I dont take bounce games as anything more than a social outing.

Depending on the course, quite a bit!

Hard to quantify exactly but I've had a 74 on a par 70 and an extremely lucky 77 on a 72. Without any pressure, I look at the par and add 10 and that's my target.

In reality, I shouldn't be off quite as much as 12. I beat it most times on other courses and regularly arrive at the 16th tee at mine around 7 or 8 over par. I'd take 3 bogeys and play to 10 or 11 in a comp, but it never happens. It's not to do with tiredness or lack of course management, it's the holes.

I play a few serious courses (open q' courses and such like) and never struggle as badly as at my home course.

C'est la vie.

Nobody ever believes me. However, after yesterdays exploits (from all four of us in the final) I suspect the reputation of the last few holes at mine has reached epic proportions. Everyone at the club accepts the situation and just tries their best. I personally think it is shame. If I was running the course, I'd make some serious changes. Golf holes should punish wayward shots and poor course management. Sensible design ought to offer players like me a decent chance of bogey and good players (low h'cap) a decent chance of par after shots that are only marginally off target.

There, I've said it.
