I am a bit confused. My handicap was 16.7, only entered an am/am and a Texas scramble recently but on 17th June Howdidido says I was cut to 16.1. The description says transferred allocation. Any idea what this means

That is what I thought but moved a year ago with a qualifying handicap, was only a few weeks between leaving one and joining the other. Does it get assessed after a year at the new club as it must be about 12 months

As you joined your new club within 12 months of leaving the previous one, your exact handicap should have crossed over with you unchanged. I'm not aware of any requirement to review the handicap after a year.

You'd be best just asking your Handicap Convener/Chairman/Secretary.

Was your AM/AM an away event, and did you score below the VCSS , which can be 2 or 3 strokes below the members CSS.
Just a thought but it looks like you've been cut point 6 , perhaps you were 2 under the VCSS.

No was at my home club. Will have to make enquiries

Surely an am-am cannot be used for handicap adjustment.

Assuming it was a better/best two balls type of format, it wasn't a qualifying round. Nor was the scramble.

It's no help to the OP to speculate. It could for example be a simple mistake of making an entry in the wrong member's record. (And yes, before you ask, I've done it.)

It wll be interesting to find out the answer once he has enquired.

If he entered his individual scores for every hole and put in a signed card , why not.
We play a few comps where both scores are required on the card.

Just one of the reasons - in an am-am you can give advice to your partner on club selection, line of putt etc. which you cannot do in a qualifier.

Because CONGU specificially states that better ball competitions and competitions in which you are in partnership with another competitor in your playing group cannot be qualifyingn rounds. Clause 17.2 (a) and (d).

Bear in mind it's not just a matter of recording scores - there is the fact that in a partnership you are allowed to ask each other for and to give advice [as Rosecott pointed out while I was typing].

No real update on this yet. Referred it to the club who have confirmed that there does seem to be some strange activity on my handicap record and it has been passed on to the handicap secretary to have a look at. Will report back when I hear further but looks like an error or computer glitch rather than an actual cut.

Problem is that I have a comp with work tomorrow, a club comp on Saturday and the Old Farts V Whippersnappers on Sunday and Monday so will be playing off 16 rather than 17 if they cannot sort it quickly.

Your club comp can be resolved retrospectively.

Looks like a computer inputting error and they may have had me mistakenly listed as an away player. Back to 16.7
