nipped upto the club at lunch earlier.

After the medal my handicap has been cut from 28 to 26.8 so on the move already.

hoping to shave a few more shots off of that by the end of summer without a doubt.

So thats me off 27 now on 30/08 for those who will be in attendance!

Congratulations. Nice work.
One quick question if you dont mind. I see you use a stiff shaft driver. I am off 15.1 and the only club in the bag that is holding me back is my driver (Fade to slice). My swing is now much more in to out and my grip is stronger etc but I still fade. I currently use a regular shaft as my swing speed is not too fast. Do you think a stiff shaft would give me more control???
Thanks

Well done matey boy. Good to see you moving in the right direction after all that work you've been putting in. I'm sure if you relax and trust your swing there is a goal of 22-20 before the season is out that can be reached. Sadly I'm going the other way and up to 15 now

good work jon,

I suspect that after today's performance I'll be moving in the wrong direction. Started Ok (teeing off first is a bit of a challenge!), quite a few overall around par/bogey and one birdie but when they were bad! might get saved by Stableford adjusted scoring but it will need to go some!

Well done on the cut. Had a great round tonite myself (see my thread) Its nice when things start to work on the course. Its important to remember then when you go back out on the course.

Your mind is your best golf club if you use it right.

Well done again and look forward to following you game on the forum.

Fade-away, no, a stiff shaft will make your fade worse. Avoid like the plaque.

John, well done, but it is not enough. I still think you will win on the 30th off 27. (puts lots of pressure on in the hope that he will crack on the day). It will help that you have prior knowledge of the course too.

Having seen you play the other week, I will strongly be lobbying for you being off 24 again you bandit :p

34 points with 6 blobs is not the golf of a 27 handicap!!!!!

Looking forward to the day, should be great fun!!!

Nice one Jon, thats good news.

Fade-away, your fade will turn into a nasty push if you get a stiff shaft. Your problem could be anything from an open club face on impact, to not turning the hands over on time. See a Pro!

Not wanting to scare your further but last night, I drove the green on our 323yd 17th and birdied it!

Was in great shape last night but as we all know, form is temporary and I know that consistent is one thing i certainly am not.

Looking forward to what will be a great day.

I really think we should have a north Vs south meet.

Jon I am desperate to see this driving of yours,

323 yard drive, what are you carrying? Anychance of a vid to see the monster action you got!

I drove a 300 par 4 down hill a couple of months ago when the ground was pretty solid and I lashed it as hard as I could, I get the feeling you do this reguarly!

The forum boys saw me whack a 300yd 3-wood off the 13th tee 2 weeks ago so I aint bullshitting about it.

When Im on form they go for miles. As for carry, my range is 260 yards and a good whack hits the fence without a bounce so that gives an idea.

Average carry is probably around the 250 mark I would guess.

As for the action, i dont have a monster-long swing or anything, apparently its because I get plenty of clubhead speed and transfer my weight well. Aparrently I really accellerate hard into the ball which helps as I am using my arms and shoulders which are fairly powerful.

It's a pity we live so far away Jon, as I've never played anyone that can outdrive me. You sound like I may have met my match if we ever meet. (Like you, I have a couple of witnesses as well. Mike H being one of them)
Well done on the H/C cut BTW. If you can start to get the ball that far down the fairway consistently, then it's only a matter of time before you'll be really low.

Short game jon, ditch the long irons haha,

Take up the 4 club challenge Driver 2 wedges and a putter you'll be laughin!

Seriously though I would love to be a big hitter, Driver and wedge for regulation on 4's. Carry all the hazards I always land in.

:) :(

If your swing is in-out then it's not really a fade.....it's a push you can't square! :D

Chances are (90%) that a firmer flex will just make this worse. The big boys who tonk it miles use a stiff flex to suit swing speed.
