Handicap cut and then..

Injury :(

Got cut to 18.2, played one round of golf and then injured my collarbone surfing. Xrays show it's not broken but the bone has moved in some way. The day it happened it had about 5 inches of movement in my arm.

That was almost 2 weeks ago.

I have about 3/4 movement of my arm but the pain is still as bad as day one, even after Co codamol and ibuprofen. No chance of swinging a club anytime soon as I want to try and be pain free before hand.

Anyone got any advice for returning to golf post shoulder injuries apart from taking it slowly and if it doesn't feel right, stop.

If the pain hasn't or eased by next weekend then I will return to my GP and see what they advise.
 
Take your time, build up your game and go back to competition when you are scoring in casual games again.

If you rush back into competition before proving yourself you MAY just end up adding back those 0.1s and denting your confidence.

Conpetitions will always be there next week or the week after.
 
Take it easy and follow medical advice, when you are able to pick a club up the practice green is your friend. Just do some chipping and putting and move on to pitching when your ready.
Personally I would not even think about playing until you can do those three things without any reaction from your shoulder.
 
Get physio - ask your doctor about it but the most likely response will be that it's a great idea but by the time he's able to provide it via NHS it will be less effective...so invest in a couple of private sessions.
In 2 sessions you will get a good measure of progress and excellent guidance on when to return to golf (and how) as well as specific exercises to build up and develop the specific areas affected quickly and efficiently.
