Well the otherday I put a post up about my handicap and what it would change by handing a good card in which dropped me to 15.4.well played the first medal of the season yesterday off the whites (the ultimate test of my new handicap )well i ended up winning the comp with a -7 because of the high sss score and have now been dropped to a 11.3 handicap-2.1strokes for scoring and a 2 shot drop for exceptional scoring . over the moon is a understatement. I seem to play better in a competion environment finally all the hard work is paying off ,roll on the summer.

Some impressive scoring and a huge cut in a few weeks. Well done

It is impressive - shame the first cut was against Congu regulations.

You must surely have previous if an ESR has been implemented at this time of year ?

He was playing of 19 last week and put a social card in 9 below HC ( without signing supplementary etc ) - it seems the HC committee cut him 4 shots ?! And now this next cut

I was unaware of the ESR being applied when doing supplementary cards.

Wish I didnt put a post up now

Sorry I know it's harsh and you seem like you would get your HC down anyway but as someone who looks after my clubs HC I prefer to see every club show consistency and work to the same regulations. Your HC committee went against regulations with your first cut.

Don't worry about it and don't let others take away from what you've done. The way I see it, rightly or wrongly they allowed the supplementary to stand and won't change that now so enjoy your new mark and learn how to play those holes you no longer get your shots on. Shame people look to take the gloss of some good shooting

Thanks for that some people just don't like seeing others improve

Quite apart from the legality of the "Supplementary" card, I'm pretty sure that a Supplementary counts the same as any other qualifier for ESR purposes.

And what if he can't maintain the new handicap and now goes on a run of 0.1's will you have the same sympathy?
The rules are there to protect the Golfer not unduly reward or punish him.
He's played fantastically well and hopefully will improve or at least maintain his new handicap, still doesn't make it right his Club not looking after its members in the correct way

It's not something I have seen yet - have had a few good supplementary cards after good medals rounds that I would expect to flag an ESR but didn't

But the good news was that today an ESR went through automatically without any input

Ultimately, the only issue here is the fact that he didn't sign the book before going out to put the supplementary card in. He shot the score and then another great won in a comp. So what if he can't play to it and starts going up. It would have been the same mark had he put his name in a book. To be honest, no different to anyone winning a comp and getting a cut, or even winning several in close succession, and coming down quickly. Just think it's a little sad to see people wanting to take the shine of a guy's performance and obvious delight, whether the supplementary guidelines were followed or not. He's obviously buzzing and doesn't care if he can't play to it.

It shouldn't be. ESR is based on CSS and CSS isn't used on Supplementary cards is it. Whilst the Op is obviously playing well, his club are doing a disservice by not applying the UHS properly.

Im going to have a look into as not seen an ESR from a supplementary card.

Rubbish, they can't pick and choose rules. Fact, nothing to do with people wanting to take a shine off anything.

Obviously some are happy to turn a blind eye to the ignoring the rules - always makes me wonder what other rules could be ignored
