Handicap calculation confusion- is it epidemic within clubs?

Then there is an argument that this format shouldn't be used for handicapping isn't there...?
Everyone would be up in arms if you deliberately 3 putted the last in a Medal to get to CSS -1 and a 0.2 cut but everyone's happy when the system kind of does that for you.....play bad, go up, play well, come down but maybe not as much as you should....
As I say, never played Bogey. Probably never will.

30 years ago (or so, I get confused at my age) you were handicapped on medal, and you could 10 putt the last in a stableford to win it but get a handicap increase!

Things have moved on.

Then again the high handicap golfer should get extra shots in a medal to make it 'fair' but they don't. The powers that be have dictated that the lower guys have their reward for excellence in their handicaps, and an extra reward in medal events now. C'est la vie.

Stableford is the only truly level playing field for handicap play because you are handicapped to stableford performance.
