I played Gullane No.2 last night and it only confirmed to me that it is simply magnificent.I really cannot think of a golf complex in Scotland to rival it.Three terrific courses, playable all year and only £5 for guests!

I know St.Andrews has a few courses, but the stretch that goes Craigielaw,Kilspindie,Luffness,Gullane,Muirfield,Renaissance,
Archerfield,North Berwick & The Glen is the finest stretch of golf anywhere in The UK...and Gullane is top of that pile in my opinion, even topping Muirfield.

Can anyone think of a finer group of courses so close together?

I would have to say St. Andrews is the best but thats beause it is one of my favourite places in britain.

It's a fair shout mono, and I've only played the old course once, and I've not played Jubilee so I cant pass comment on it.My favourite up there is Kingsbarns which is quite a bit better than the old course imo. After those the other St.Andrews courses are a bit below that level I reckon, but I'm happy to be told otherwise!Always looking for new links tracks to play :D

I have promised myself that the Greenfree voucher i have is going to be used for Gullance #2. Have driven through it numerous times and the golf looks great.

2 of my favourite 3 courses that i've played so far are on that stretch. Kilspindie and North Berwick. I didn't like The Glen so much, especially that silly first hole.

Each to their own, but I dont really care for Links golf, much prefer Parkalnd ala Wentworth etc.

Granted, Links golf is tough, but to me, there are just too many variables to make it enjoyable for amateur golfers, bad bounces etc etc.
If you can land it 'exactly' where you need to, fair enough, just as the Pro's very often do.

How about this line up Leven Links, Lundin Links, Elie, Crail, Kingsbarns , St Andrews Bay, St Andrews, Scotscraig, Monifieth, Panmure , Carnoustie, all with an hours drive think thats just about as good with many of them Open Qualifying courses and some of the oldest clubs in the world.

So to summarise .... everything from Carnoustie down to Goswick is worth a shout!!!! So living in Scotland is good for something. ;)
I would go as far as to say any links course on the East Coast of Scotland including Cruden Bay and Royal Aberdeen

No Andy, your just being silly there ma man. The road from my course can be followed to all the above already metioned. All within around 20 miles or so and as you know Carfusty and Gossick are not near that stretch.
