:mmm:
As has been noticed before, he who wins pens the first report, So here I am :)

Except I didnt just beat him, I annihilated him 40 points to 26

I had 18 on the front to Imurgs 17. but the back 9 saw me get 6 pars for 22 points whilst Imurg could only manage a paltry 9.and yes his trolley got many a good kicking.

However that is by the by. On the 17th par 5 he was having a winge saying that he was going to stop scoring stableford and let gross scores do the talking..He then proceeded to lose his ball and the provosional. :clap:after losing the provo, he effectively picked up and took no further part in the hole so carded a 7 for blob,

When we totted up the scores i had 87 gross (PB Equal) to his 85 gross .

Whereas has we done a proper search for the provo, he may have carded a 9 or worse.

Was he protecting his gross score?

I think we should be told:ears:

CVG also tagged along and also beat Imurg, but only just

And Yes I know my handicap need to come down by 4 or 5. It Will

Fragger

I don't think you can protect your gross score if you're playing stableford... a blob is a 'pick up' and that's that.

Why not try Mableford?

Great job Phil!! Unlucky Ian... sounds like your on good form Phil, must get a game with one or both of you, maybe at the beginning of next month? I think you and I are one game each but I am not sure I have beaten Ian yet... you have made it sound easy!!!

Oh loving the new Avatar mate!!

Top shooting Phil

Sounds to me like he's just delaying the inevitable, think if I was him I'd get it out of the way and let you have your day in the sun :D

Surely if he picked up it's an NR and you've won on gross too. If there rules said you can pick up for a double bogey then I would be taking that one more often, especially when I've lost my first two tee shots and so would be 5 off the tee.

Perhaps a pick up should be a double bogey PLUS any shots you've already taken, making that an 11 :D

Thanks Guys

To clarify, he played his provo, hit it into the bundo, we found it and he hit it into some trees, we found it and he hit it into more bundo.

He didnt bother to go look for it, If we had and had found it, he would have taken more than 7 and I might have beaten him Gross

Really happy with how my game is going at the moment, took 32 putts no blobs and recovered well if I did duff one in the lake.

5 greens in regulation, and most of the others were close, I think on most holes, I had a putt for par.

87 equals my PB , now to do it in a comp and get cut

Fragger

Well played fragger I think although the scores claim you got beat gross I think you can claim a moral gross victory a 7 is decidedly dodgy with 2 lost balls! :).

Great shooting for a PB.

Some of us work for a living.....
I shall just make 2 comments....

1. I am in a major slump in my golf

2. Your handicap sbould relect what you should score having played well.......

Aha, but the thread has nothing to do with handicaps and everything to do with Gross scores

A response to the actual allegations is required

Squirming are we ? :)

Fragger

What allegation?
I made a passing comment on the 17th along the lines of Stableford doesn't count, only gross....???

The only protection I saw was a decidedly dodgy putt on 16 and a near blob on 18.....

That 87 should have been 85.

Then I'd have only needed to shoot 2 under gross to beat you rather than level par.............

Not sure if you have misunderstood but the whole point of this post is the speculation that if we had looked for and found your lost provisional.. what effect that would have had on your gross score.

and by not looking for it, were you "unintentionally" keeping your gross score below mine

Handicaps, My scores and the Murder of Rasputin are irrelivant to the point

Fragger :)

I love winding him up

At Camberley last month I recall Imurg saying to me that you were the best 21 handicapper he knows. Read into that what you will

I was there and all I can say is ...... when I go shopping at the weekend I'm looking for a big hat and an eye patch to complete Fragger's golfing attire!

But whatever he played out of his skin on the back nine, and Ian didn't simples!

Phil the Frag does have the potential to be a good player but can't reproduce it all the time in comps. However it mans he can be unstoppable when he's on fire and four for four fragger will stick

Paul Lawrie said on TV yesterday that he got beat by his 14yr old son and it helped motivate him... I'm sure Imurg is just toying with you..... maybe he'll let you win a couple to make you feel good and use it to help motivate himself... it's a win/win situation!!!
:whoo:
