hi,,i think I'm at the best well kept golf course in nottinghamshire for the yearly fee of 420

i would say it 7/10 for difficulty meaning tight fairways smallish greens every morning the grounds man is out cleaning the greens

Ive played other local courses and for 15/20 pounds more per round there isn't that much difference

i was just wondering what other golfers are happy to pay from your own experience's whats the most you have ever payed for a round of golf :)

Payed 100 quid to play Celtic manor 2010 course was not long after Ryder cup so bit battered but definitely worth it for the experience and the customer service up there !

£725 for green fees to the golf centre and £50 for the subs for the club.

:ooo: we pay €480

As for just rocking up and paying I would think that depending onthe course inwould be willing to shell out £200 on a once off.

OK Dreamer2. Give us a clue. At which course are you? I can think of 3 in Mansfield but they won't be £420.

This year to end March 2012, we payed £3,007!! This includes £50 bar levy. Everywhere is pretty expensive round here - mostly in the region of £1,100 to £1,500. I have thought about leaving due to cost but am hanging in there. Justifications include: best course in the area (that you can join), free unlimited use of driving range (being extened to around 260 yards with target greens etc) and short-game area. It is only 3 miles by road (1.5 through the woods) - I factored this in when moving from Caversham Heath which was about 12 miles away - saving a few hundred pounds per year; convenience and time factor - about 6 minutes in the car - can leave the car if I drink etc. Full food service from around 7am to 8/9pm, plus staffed half-way house every day until around 7pm in summer; constant course improvements on design and drainage etc - they must be spending about a million on the curent major upgrades, many of which will be finished in the next few months and others, such as 16 and 18 (not sure what they will do here) next winter - we are having major work on 10 at the moment and after Christmas they will start on 9 - there will be a lot more water soon! Good comps plus a well-managed roll-up from 7.30am (7 in summer) to 10am each Saturday and Sunday; really good food; good events and social side; a great bunch of members - very friendly; good-fun cub matches - I played in all in 2006/7 but have been too busy since - matches include Woburn, The Bucks, Brocket Hall (all new in last couple of years), Celtic Manor (a monster 2-day piss up and 2 rounds), Parkstone, Stoke Park (another monter piss up). Other matches in mixed and seniors include Wentworth, Manor House and The Wisley. After a stressful week at work, I relax as soon as I drive in the gates, and the after-match drink is always a laugh. I would love to stay a member until I pop my cloggs and hope I can afford it but it is a stretch. I have thought about where I could move to in the future if I have to and probably East Berks would be the favourite - about 5-6 miles and around £1,150 a year (plus 2 x that for entry) - I still haven't played it but it looks good. Sonning is a similar distance - I didn't particularly like it last time I played 12 years ago but they are spending a fortune and it sounds as if it is a lot better - but fees have gone up to over £1,500. Slightly further (10 miles) is North Hants which is also very nice -but this starts getting a lot less convenient and bumping up the fuel costs. A similar distance are The Berkshire and Sunningdale - both lovely but impossible to get into so not really options.

whats the most you have ever payed for a round of golf :)

£225 for the West Course at Wentworth about 4 years ago and £ 160 for the New Course at Sunningdale this summer. Dear, yes, but when I played football I never got to play at Wembley and when I played tennis I didn't play at Wimbledon!

Chris

Most I have paid for one round of golf is £100 for the Old Course at St Andrews this October. Paid about the same for rounds at St Georges Hill, Swinley and the Berkshire, but they included a meal. All well worth the money.

We are approx £1200.00 plus bar levy (generally gone in january!!).

Have played some great courses but thankfully never paid fee's myself, off to the Old Course next year, green fee less than £200.00, would have paid twice as much without blinking.

I pay nothing... my father-in-law pays mine!

He basically said, there's nothing worse than wanting to play a lot of golf but not doing it because you can't justify the cost. For my birthday, he told me he was going to pay for two years membership at my club. He plays there as well so we play a few social games togther, but he doesn't expect me to play with him every week.

I am a lucky chap to have such a nice father in law. His daughter's not bad either
